Coz I'm a Sony whore.
Here's a Sony Vaio Pocket VGF-AP1 (20GB)
Released in 2004, drooled upon 2005, lusted for it since 2006, and now finally got one in 2008...
For £13.50 off ebay! Talk about bargain, truly!
The unit itself has got heavy dents, scratches, looks like a very well-used unit. As this is a HD-based player, you can actually hear it spinning powering up whenever you switch it on. The G-Sense takes a while to get used to, but once you do, it's a quite a brilliant idea, all these before touchscreen stuff came into picture. Battery life seems to be holding out well for a few hours of use after a full charge.
Transferring music is easy. Since I still have my HD3, I have Sonicstage installed, and it is familiar ground for me. Sound quality is just amazing. Something that I have come to expect from Sony. And this was in 2004! Shame that they didn't go on and develop a full-fledged video player from VAIO pocket. I'm still waiting for their large capacity player that does just music playing. No need all those web-browsing shit, thank you very much.
Now that's crossed from the list, next up, a VAIO wireless digital streaming speaker!
Ideally to be placed in the bathroom, hehe.
