Sony's first mp3 player to have a color screen - but not without it's drawbacks (as usual). Pretty crap capacity and apparently it's for China release only. But definitely something to look forward to, esp some exciting HDD-based players - perhaps video as well? And please, ATRAC format supported!
We are definitely expecting Sony to announce a series of new products this quarter. But to our surprise, Sony China announced yesterday of a new flash based Mp3/WMA player - the CE-P series - which does not support ATRAC format. The CE-P series (CE-P13, CE-P15 & CE-P17) will be strictly an Mp3/WMA player, which features a 1.5″ 260K color OLED display with built-in FM tuner, FM recording, voice recording and ability to view BMP/JPEG files. According to themp3players.com, the new CE-P series is the first ever Sony DAP designed in China - by Sony China Creative Center based in Shanghai.
The CE-P13 , CE-P15 and CE-P17 will be 256MB, 512MB and 1GB respectively and will join the new NW-A00x series we have just reported as Sony’s new low budget DAP line. The MSRP published by Sony China are as follows:
1. CE-P17: 1GB, black and gold* color, RMB1199 (approx US$150)
2. CE-P15: 512MB, black, silver and red color, RMB999 (approx US$125)
3. CE-P13: 256MB, black, silver and red color, RMB799 (approx US$100)
