John had just gotten up. It was 5 PM and clearly time for breakfast. He had walked to the messhall, which was conveniently located next to the lounge, so after he got himself cornflakes and milk, he settles down between Rodney and Hiro, who are watching a movie. "'Mornin'," he says to Hiro, and kisses Rodney in greeting.
"Hmm," Rodney hums pleasantly.
It had been a couple weeks since John and Rodney had moved in, and already, they were living it up. They took full advantage of personal rooms, the curfew, and the lack of rules. Plus, they had made some really good friends here. Even Rodney had nothing to complain about.
Suddenly, a screen pulls down from nowhere. Sometimes this happens when She was doing something pertaining to fandom. So far, it had only happened when She was watching TV, but this time was different. Instead of showing what She was watching, it was of Her computer, and because it was in Real Time, it showed Her typing. John looks up curiously and sees a list.
Hiro glances up, and says excitedly, "Ooo! She's doing a list!"
"Yeah, so?" Rodney says, annoyed. Just because he had nothing to complain about didn't mean his attitude changed. And that was what John loved about him.
"It's obviously a fandom list," Hiro says, as if that made any difference. Rodney must've have still looked confused, because Hiro elaborates, "It's about us."
"Ooo, what's it about?" Daniel says, appearing out of nowhere with bacon and eggs on a plate. Dr. Daniel Jackson had arrived a week after John and Rodney got there. He wasn't paired with anyone either, but Ianto finished that sentence with "Isn't paired with anyone, yet. She Herself admits She hasn't finished the series."
Hiro squints. "A list of Her favourite characters. And Rodney's number one!" John thinks Hiro sounds kind of outraged.
"Well, obviously. I'm Her favourite," Rodney says in his "duh" voice, looking back down. "Need I remind you of who her wallpaper is? Now, can we finish the movie?"
"I thought you didn't like Back To the Future, Rodney," John says, chewing on a mouthful of 'flakes.
"Yes, well, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a little movie from time to time," Rodney huffs. "Besides," he says in a quieter voice, "you like it, so it can't be all bad." John grins happily, and puts another spoonful of cereal in his mouth.
"Hey," Jack says, sauntering into the room, naked. "Why is Rodney at the top? When did Ianto and I get bumped down to second?"
Rodney shrieks, "For the love of everything that is right, put on some clothes!"
Jack ignores him, and accepts the coffee Ianto hands him. Ianto also hands him his robe, which Jack doesn't accept. Ianto holds onto it anyway.
John likes Jack; Jack does whatever he wants whenever he wants however he wants. People say that's how John is too, and in the past, John's taken it as an insult, but if it means he's kind of like Jack, he supposes it can't be all bad.
"Hey, She sometimes complete forgets about us," Sirius says pointedly, walking in with tea. "Yup, see? Not even on there."
"Sirius," Remus scolds. "Her name is your name. And one of Her communities is my name. And Her emails? Are all based on you and me. How can you even say that She forgets us?"
"Yes, well." Sirius smirks, drinking his tea. "She does love us, doesn't She?"
"Yes, of course She does" Remus says, exasperatedly. John knows they've had that discussion many times from the way Remus sighs and rolls his eyes. Remus catches John's eye and John smiles, because he understands exactly how Remus feels. Remus smiles back before leading Sirius to the messhall to get some food.
"Look!" Hiro says, pointing up at the screen. The grin he has on his face when he looks back down is slightly evil. Or at least John thinks so. "She thinks Rodney is cute."
"What?!" Rodney says, looking up at the screen. "'Bambi-cute'?! What the hell? She doesn't like me for my superiour intellect? Only because I'm cute?!"
John shrugs. "I think you're cute."
Rodney sputters and stutters syllables while everyone else, Hiro, Daniel, Ianto and Jack, look on amused. "What?!"
John grins, drinking the last of his milk. "She and I think you're pretty hot, too," he says, pointing up at the capslock "PLUS HE'S SO HOT aAEK;G'NAeEKRgDG" that She just typed.
Rodney's red face turns even redder. "Well, obviously, because I am."
John puts the bowl down and kisses Rodney's temple. "That's my boy."
A/N: Rodney really is my favourite character. There are more reasons as to why, but the reasons I state in here really do apply.
