2. Pick a fandom you feel comfortable writing about.
3. Use the stock image you found and somehow incorporate into your fandom by writing a fic about it.
Optional: The fic has to be exactly 1000 words long.
I picked two pictures, but only one fandom: TORCHWOOD!
Both are very much UNDER 1000 words. Puh-lease.
Also, both are, at most, pg13.
When Jack Met Ianto
Jack, amused, found himself face to face with a young (really young) Welsh man named Ianto, who had a sharp suit and sharper eyes. "You're the new tea-boy?" Jack asked while smirking.
Flirting was a thing he did that he couldn't stop, even if he wanted to, which, to be clear, was definitely one of the things he didn't want. He had done it all his life from when he was little, to the Time Agency, to all the new interviewees at Torchwood 3. He liked it, actually: liked seeing himself in the other person's (or non-person's) eyes, liked seeing and gauging their reactions to see if he had a chance in bed, liked the feeling he got when they flirted back.
Ianto smiled, and said something funny and sarcastic, as if he was used to getting hit on randomly by attractive men. Well, Jack thought, considering Ianto, that actually might be possible. And Ianto might have been flirting back with him, but, as Jack looked into Ianto's eyes, he didn't see himself; just a darkness that rivaled what his eyes must have shown.
It made Jack shudder with anticipation.
A/N: Um, I've actually read a lot of "when jack met ianto" fics, and I love them all much more than what I just wrote, but I have always wanted to write Torchwood, and my take on what happened when they met.
Hiding Underneath the Smoke in the Room
Captain Jack Harkness lit a cigarette and took a long drag before exhaling, watching the smoke fade away into the air around him. Captain James Harper, who he didn't know until today, came up to him. They were on a balcony, overlooking the dancing below.
"It's peaceful up here," James said quietly. The sound of his voice made Jack want to close his eyes and kiss him like James was his.
"Yes," Jack said, taking another long drag and exhaling.
James watched Jack smoke for a couple of minutes and frowned. "I would tell you not to smoke, because it's going to kill you, but..." he trailed off, unsure of how to finish the sentence.
"I'm dying. Tomorrow."
James made a face, like he didn't know what to say, or he wasn't sure what to do; it surprised Jack and made him love him that much more. "You might die tomorrow. There's a war going on, if you hadn't noticed."
Jack smiled and pretended too. "Yes, I noticed."
"What are you doing up here, anyway?" James asked, putting a strong hand on Jack's elbow and guiding him to the stairs. "You should be dancing with the pretty girl who came to see you. You should... do what you want tonight."
"Because there's a war going on," Jack said, mirroring James' words.
"Yes, I noticed," James said, not missing a beat, catching Jack's eyes and smiling.
"No," Jack said, taking another drag of his cigarette, now almost finished. "I'd rather stay here."
"It's like you're hiding here, behind the smoke of your own cigarette," James said, watching Jack take yet another drag, and exhaling it.
"If I stopped smoking and went after her, would it make a difference?" Jack asked, quietly and angrily. "Would it let me live another day?"
"No, but that's not the point," James said, "You need to understand that I want you to make the most of tonight, while you can."
"Then, would you let me?" Jack asked. The open-ended question lingered in the air as James struggled to understand what it meant.
"Yes," James said, an uncertainty in his voice that made Jack want him that much more.
And, so, Jack took the last drag of his cigarette and put it out on the railing before exhaling the smoke off the balcony, kissing James and making the most out of tonight.
Um, yeah. It's a little AU, isn't it? Set in Captain Jack Harkness, ideally after Jack tells The Captain to lose himself in Nancy. Obviously, The Captain blows off Nancy and stays around to have a smoke upstairs, XD
