Well today was the first full day of the U of C band workshop. I got into E band, 2nd sax. There are some challenging runs, but most of the music, for me anyways seems to be a lot of rests. One of the other altos told me last year the pieces were A LOT harder. There are 6 saxes all together, 4 altos, 1 tenor, and 1 bari. I'm probably the worst of the bunch, but that's ok. I'm proud of myself for making it into E and it provides me with a great challenge which I'm excited about. This camp is making me sooo excited for band, and for trying out for wind ensemble. I can't wait! I know, I know. I am a total nerd/band geek, but I love it! Although when your around uber talented people it kinda makes you realize that your really not that great. Which isn't the greatest feeling, but 1)I don't take private lessons, 2)I don't do band outside of school, yet anyways, and 3) well I can't think of another one so yeah. I don't dwell on it though. Right now I just want to keep learning and playing.
OMG Zoey I have to play a high F#, F#! And since I don't have an F# key or whatever it's called I have to do this stupid fingering, and I can't even make it sound. So yeah, I think I might just have an eight rest when I have to play that note. I have to play high quite a bit, which kinda sucks for me cuz my higher register is not to clean, but that's ok. Only practice will make it better. Poor Jodie is stressed. She has like 32nd notes or something like that. Right now I don't tihnk she's enjoying it all that much, but I hope it gets better for her.
Mike is such a frickin' stressful driver. Holy crap! LOL But I can't complain too much cuz he bought me a Slurpee and is my chauffer for the week. Hehehe Well now, I should mosy on to do something else...
