First snow.
Well, today was the day. It's the first time it's snowed, at least here anyway. I saw a few flurries before, but today is the first time I've seen more than a few stray flakes. In fact, the first snowplow of the season just came by just a few moments ago. Boo.
I went out & about today, & it was the first time this season I had to dig out the winter coat, I made do with a sweatshirt all this time because we had more mild days than not. Even last week, we had days in the 50s with rain. Some days almost smelled spring-like from it. I knew I was going to smell snow when I'd step outside though, so I got the winter coat & headed out, & sure enough I could smell the snow that was coming. It smelled like winter. I went out & got some gas & some fast food, & of course as I'm just about home, the low tire pressure warning light came on. So I ate my food & went to get ready to leave, & the town's Santa parade went by as I was heading out the door. I went & got air for my tires, & had a lousy drive back home. It's not a lot of snow, but it's enough to make it a bit slippery out. I went to turn left back onto my road & completely missed the turn. (Probably my fault for jinxing it, as someone in an SUV behind me was riding my butt & I had literally just thought "Mind backing off, buddy? Not everyone has great tires for winter & all wheel drive.") So I had to turn around & make a second attempt to get back onto my road.
So that's happening right now. The plow just came by a few moments ago, so that's a real bummer.
I'm so ready for summer again. Just a few more months until technical spring, & the clocks going back ahead to give us another hour of daylight in the evening. Then one month later, it's mid-April, & leaves start coming back out shortly after. I'll be so happy to see green again. I'm already tired of the dreary nothingness that is winter, & it's not even technically winter yet.
