UM I'M PRETTY MUCH HYPERVENTILATING RIGHT NOW OK.
ok. *breathes* have to get through the rest of my review.
i LOVED the opening sequence. it reminded me so much of 'it's the end of the world'/'as we know it', and i just loved it so so much. i enjoy when they have someone else do the opening voiceover instead of meredith, because it definitely adds another sense of poignancy.
"are you guys having another one of your 'we're best friends, we're so cool' moments?" oh, izzie. i know that she had her whole thing in the second season about the meredith & cristina vs. the world thing, but she's got to still be feeling it. and i feel so bad for her. because george isn't really there all the time for her, and hi, her boyfriend just died. she NEEDS someone. i wish she'd become friends with addison. sigh.
i just think it's necessary every review to state the obvious: HI ADDISON YOU'RE HOT. YOUR BOOBS ARE HOT, YOUR GLASSES ARE HOT, YOU'RE A HOT PERSON. YOU LOOK HOT IN SCRUBS. YOU CAN DO HOT IN YOUR SLEEP.

"how's plastics, karev? everything you've ever dreamed of?" UM ADDISON JUST MAKE OUT WITH HIM RIGHT THERE OK. IT'S NOT ENOUGH THAT THE THREE OF YOU ARE IN ALL THE SCENES AND REMINDED ME OF THE THREESOME FIC I WROTE, BUT YOU HAD TO GET SO CLOSE TO HIM YOU PRACTICALLY MOLESTED HIM. OH ADDIE.

(rainblows plz don't beat me up a la sarrrrrra ramirez.) and they are ADORABLE together, now that they're actually together. see, i like them when they aren't hurting anyone else (addison or george) and try to stay low-key. that is when i like them. that would be this episode. my heart squee-ed at "you know what says thank you like nothing else? SEX." OH DEREK.

"dude, she went all cagefighter on you!" UM HOW ADORABLE WAS THAT WHEN MEREDITH GIGGLED AND PUT HER HEAD ON IZZIE'S SHOULDER OMG.
"he cheated on me." "that makes him an ass, it doesn't mean you have to be." addison, listen to your future boyfriend's words of wisdom, okay? and tell them to derek, because apparently he needs to hear them.
i'm really alkfjgldkfj about burke as chief. we all knew it was coming, it was coming since season one. but i don't feel they handled the chief's end of it properly (they didn't even show him asking burke, and there was nothing about him and adele, which is the reason he is leaving.) although, i do feel closure on the whole cristina/burke thing, and i am glad how it panned out. "nobody will ever know." "I'LL know." that's been the major theme of most of this cristina/burke thing, and i think that both of them acted accordingly, and how i had hoped they would act.
as burke said, cristina dragged him across the line (in one sense). he was going to tell derek, tell the chief, that he wasn't okay, but she forced him into it, and he was forced into the situation because of her emotional shortcomings. if it hadn't been for cristina, burke would have been the man he USED to be before all this, and he would have come clean to the chief and asked for some time off, or extra rehab, or whatnot. but he couldn't do that with cristina.
on the other hand, it shouldn't be all cristina's fault. she's an INTERN. she shouldn't have to be learning these complicated procedures and making sure that everything was okay with her ATTENDING. it should have been the other way around, but since she loved him so much, she gave him no thought about it. i'm proud of her for finally going and telling the chief and admitting her wrongdoings, but at the same time, it was so quintessentially cristina. she knew SHE wouldn't get in trouble for much of it, because she was an intern. BURKE'S career was on the line, and she knew that. and even though i feel like she did a good thing by telling the chief, saving patients' lives possibly, it was a selfish thing and she knew it.
hi, george, let me rip your face off for embarrassing izzie like that, and bringing up something you never should have even thought in your head. that really pissed me off. but they're george and izzie, so it will be okay.
also, george? let callie speak. the girl is clearly gaga over you, and people make stupid mistakes (remember when you are chastising callie for sleeping with mark, when you slept with meredith even though you knew it was wrong?). please give her a chance to SPEAK. to make it up to you. she loves you, she describes surgeries in terms of cars for your brothers, for god's sakes. even if you "can't do this now," at least tell her when you CAN.
derek doesn't understand the rules of girl. best friends trump boyfriends. you don't tell secrets like that, secrets your BEST FRIEND told you about something that could ruin her boyfriend's career. you just don't. and as selfish and closed off as cristina can be, meredith was right. she was there when derek wasn't. she got meredith through all the times that derek was treating meredith like he shouldn't have been ("wait, you're calling him mcdreamy again?!") and she helped fix what he broke.
that is the intelligent part of my review. and now for...
