Never in my life would I have imagined that being a parent (the limited perspective of which I'm experiencing this week) would be so much different than I thought it would be. I can't even describe it but its one thing to learn about it and quite another to do it. Like when Zak says that spending quality time with his family is so important that he thinks he should skip school to do it. Or when I encourage them that beating eachother up is part of nature of growing up. I've only messed up a few times so far. 1) When I came on Sunday morning for the first time I pulled into the driveway, unlocked the back and got out of the car. Much to my surprise I hear someone screaming my name. I turn to see Zackery shouting my name and waving his hands in a driveway four houses away. I booked it out of there.
2) My sister came to pick something up from me after I had already set the house alarm. Growing up in a household that just falsely advertised them, I didn't think this would be such a big deal. But apparently the house disagreed. So at 1:30am Breayn comes running up the stairs to the sound of the alarm beeping into the night. She thoght we were being robbed and I assured her that it was just my lack of technological initiative that had caused the rucous. Although, I'm not going to lie. I am a little nervous to go to bed. If you don't get a call tommorrow Boris, you'll know why.
It's only been a day and I have already decided a few things about when raising my own household. Funny how it only takes one night to decide that if I had dogs, I would probably light them on fire.
Anyways, this is a new and somewhat strange experience and I'm glad I decided to do it. It's nice to just have a break from "normal" life and get a brand new experience. Especially with such funny kids. I definetly wasn't this witty or this cool at their age. Anyways, the night is young but a mother's work is never done. Do me a favour and tell your mom goodnight tonight. You might just make her day.
