Dionysus & Aphrodite

Feb 25, 2009 15:00

Dionysus was the god of ritualized ecstasy, wine, agriculture, and theater. I think of him as a sort of playboy--he was the darker side to Aphrodite, the sort of person who would get wasted with wild abandon and maybe fuck a few of his followers without worry about the consequences.

Aphrodite was the goddess of love, sex, and beauty. To me she isn't quite a slut, she's more the type of god who would be all for the "free love" movement.

For Jeremiah's Scion game I think I'm going to be playing a mix of the two--darker impulses mixed with sexual urges. Giving her Rapacity is too easy--and besides, I'd rather play someone with Ambition and see where it takes me. I think I'll keep her Dionysus's Scion, but I'll think more on it and discuss it with Jeremiah. Aphrodite feels more tame to me, Dionysus is a party animal in a classy rockstar way. And I don't think I have to stick close to the god my character was chosen by...right? I think either way it will be a challenge to play someone like that around people I know.

I'll try to talk to my lordly ST either tonight or tomorrow--especially since this weekend is Housing. I might also try to write her backstory, since it seems as though my characters solidify when I do that. I might also draw her in my sketchbook, with references to classical paintings of Venus's birth because those are pretty sweet.

The last thing that I want for this character is for her to turn into a stereotype of whichever Grecian deity I wind up choosing. The ancient Grecian deities were not one-sided, they had nuances that made them more human than a lot of other pantheons, which is, I'm pretty sure, what Jeremiah wants.

She'd also have a gun that looks like so:

the astonishing adventures of me, the story's the thing, roleplaying, art for art's sake
