on December 11, 2009, I was arrested along with 65 other students for protesting at Wheeler Hall in Berkeley, Ca. Wheeler Hall has been peacefully occupied by students since Monday so as I knew this information, I walked into Wheeler Hall at 1AM on Friday aware that i could get into trouble. We were just studying, trying to finish my paper before my deadline, and at around 5am we hear cops running in the hallways, yelling at students, telling us that we are arrested. I didnt take it seriously until an officer opened our door, room 224, and told us we are being arrested and we had to line up against the wall. We were put into handcuffs and taken to the basement where we met other protesters. Some kids had no shoes. Some kids had no shirts. And one kid had no pants. The cops told us we were not going anywhere. I was cold but fortunately, wearing all of my clothes. We stayed in the basement for hours. They took away the first group of kids - the people that were arrested before. We thought we would be safe if we didnt have any records. We heard news that we were all going to go to Santa Rita jail. The next thing I knew, I was being escorted into a caged bus with my fellow protestors. Jail was an interesting experience. I got felt up by cop dykes, was a victim of racist comments, and met some of the coolest Berkeley kids. We lost all track of time. And by the end realized this whole system is one big mind fuck.
