i fall asleep with my friends around me
so when teachers convene, they do so in atlantic city.
we decided to join, but we don't need any hours right now so we just hung out. literally.
just kidding.
but seriously, it happened.
me/jes/dave/lorraine all ended up getting a room at showboat, which i was kinda bleh about at first, sinec i was there a few years ago and it was mostly gross. plus, there was a huge ordeal happening where we had booked extra rooms, and people were dropping out, after they had already made verbal commitments, blah blahblah, the bottom line is don't ever do anything with anyone, ever, never.
but then again, everything ended up working out, so really the bottom line is, always do things with people, at all times.
we were getting ready, and i made drinks, and we used coffee mugs,
and citrus garnish is pretty at all times
showboat was awesome, i guess they remodeled. our bathroom was awesome. i have no pictures of that.
eventually we were all ready to go. a few timer pics, then off to the tail end (dirty) of the ETEA reception
we got there as it was ending, but we grabbed numerous drink vouchers and waited on different (closing) bar lines to grab a few drinks each. i forget who our hookup was... ami's parents? i don't know. but we drank. and ate dried out food. really fast. it ruled.
i think to get there we rode an impossibly hot shortbus. i think lorraine actually died.
and then i forget everything, and then we were at the borgata's gypsy bar
and a cover band started playing, and some really un-hot teacher types started filtering in, doing their
best impressions of Gussied Up New Jersey Teachers On The Town.
we, of course, actually were hot. but you already knew this.
remember?
of course you do.
ok, so then i don't know, oh wait the Wheel of Fortune thing happened.
i can't explain it to you at all. but it was hysterical, i actually cried. and i think i cried more the next day. basically, lorraine lost money in a slot machine, but it felt like we were winning, see this isn't funny just look at some awesome cookies
so cool, right? these are from valentine's day last year. for work, the day after we got sushi, forget it you weren't there. but the weather was like this
and as long as we're in february'07, we can visit march also
put your hands down, i'm doing it anyway. st. pat's day in hoboken, which is actually 2 weeks before st. pat's day, at ami's (then) new place
JPREPREZAWNTTT
so back in AC, jes directed an escalator photoshoot
are you paying attention?
i think at this point we had brought lorraine back to the room for sleepies, but the three of us were still roaming about casinos, wreaking havoc.
and by "havoc" i mean "four reasonably nerdy math teachers walking calmly through casinos at night"
at some point jes dared me to do a cartwheel in the middle of a main gambling walkway. and did i do it? HELL YES I DID. it's a wonder we didn't get arrested for our hijinks! we are soooooo ok i'm over this sentence already. we had fun, then went to get food (at "plate" which was really cool) and ended up sitting, at 3am, next to a girl that dave went to high school with? it was cool/weird. and she kind of insisted that dave was actually his brother. the food was so important.
i'm typing too much, you're not reading this, here's a pic that i think came from jes's camera because i have no idea where it's from
and while we're interrupting again, here's some from my birthday and trivia at skylark
a crazy awesome pear bag and some dude
notice the crazy awesome wrapping job by lorraine... she taped the pages together individually. so cool-
brett and angela
try that again brett
ok back to AC. are you paying attention?
the morning after was a postcard
you should probably be listening to '1, 2, 3, 4' by feist while you look at this part. even though lorraine's then-obsession has fizzled into derision, that song is the way it was, and that song is how i will remember this day
and that's the way it should be
see if you can account for all the layers in this one:
thanks for playing along, kids-
