i went to relative theory with corinne
i bought:
my morning jacket - "Z"
deerhoof - "the runners four"
six finger satellite - "severe exposure"
six finger satellite is the band that inspired les savy fav to start playing music. all three of those albums have vastly exceeded my expectations. and the last two were USED. deerhoof was already used. somebody is very stupid to have bought deerhoof and not have known what they were getting into ESPECIALLY when relative theory lets you listen to ANYTHING you want ALL THE WAY THROUGH before you buy it. oh well. it took about 4 bucks off the price for me.
corinne bought a bunch of gospel and choir records, mostly for less than a buck each. very cool.
the boys at relative were also nice enough to give us a ton of free stuff - music demos, dvd demos, and a beverage.
but probably the best part of the night was my glance at the magazine rack which rewarded me greatly - maelstrom, the literary magazine salem high school puts out that i used to submit to and edit for, was just chilling there next to filter and independent magazine. i was very excited. i was so excited i almost bought one for $10, despite having just spent $30 and some change.
oh well. now i'm gonna go finish my homework for tomorrow. i hope.
PS - i've also begun a blog to chronicle my music reviews for the captain's log.
