okay i really need everyone's opinion on this. I am making a portfolio website for a summer art program at MICA I'm trying to get a scholarship to, and so I was working on a layout. I thought I kind of liked this one, and I showed it to a few people asking for their opinions, and they seemed to like it, too, but my mother sees it and just stares in disgust. It actually really upset me, she just goes on and on and ON AND ON telling me that it looks like a two year old did it and that she knows for a fact that if i try to use it it is going to go right in the trash, people won't even look past the first page. She believes she knows everything there is to know about art (she did ceramics) and she was so angry at me for taking my friends opinions, when she is obviously so much more experienced and knowledgable in this area.
I was under the impression that I tried to make it look semi-childish, it was a style (at least, that was that I thought).. but she really hated it, so I am asking you to plleasssee tell me your honessttt opinions on it, and what i should change... because I'm too lazy to go about making a whole nother layout.
(the content is going to go in the big white area, and the places that say ABOUT, PORTFOLIO and OTHER are going to be links, obviously.)
I think I like it more without the trees/flowers at the bottom, but most people I talked to liked the trees/flowers, so here's that one, too.... just for comparison, or whatever.
