pardon my bickering.

Coffee with a shot of espresso<3

I conversed with many students in my english class about brave new world and 1984. one girl and i would up completely connecting and having a conversation about feminism and another about drugs and one regarding our grades given by mrs. harrison. i was relieved to hear she is doing as poorly as i am, because i know that she is a very intelligent student. like me, she has problems sacrificing her creativity for a good grade, and we discussed the teacher's position in grading and how everyone's paper is supposed to have the same exact basic structure.

in history, i once again brought up feminism. my class usually gets annoyed when i discuss controversial issues or question authority in class, but i was so into my argument i didn't notice any negative comments from my peers. incidently, after class i stayed later to talk to my history teacher, and for once i was not planning to argue. we talked about women's rights during the 1800's-1830's and women's roles in literature and having male pen names to gain success. in a way, i think i befuddled her. oh well.

later, shira and i began to talk about a debate she had in the previous period regarding same sex marriages.
i cannot conceive the extent of ignorance that thrives in my very own town. "How would you feel if you were adopted by two men?!" or "I'd rather be in foster care than be in the care of a gay couple!". I began to tear. I really did. I couldn't concentrate on my work because i am so upset. this is wrong. this is DISGUSTING. i really think it has to do with they ways we were brought up, though. strict catholic families, it seems, were taught the ways of the bible (to disrespect women [sexual objects] or that homosexuality is immoral). i'm both shocked and petrified.
bush disgusts me like none other. there is no one i despise as much as i despise him. people are so blind with their money and ignorant ways to see all of the damage he has done to our country. there was nothing in iraq and, without a doubt in my mind, he started these conspiracies to get revenge after his father's situation and because he fucking wants money. other countries fear and despise us, as do i. people think he solves problems. look at the problems he has cause and the problems he has "fixed". he created most of these problems out of greed and as publicity stunts to make himself look accomplished. if he gets into office again, i have no idea what to do or what this country has come to. imagine when the kids from my school are in positions of leadership. PREDICT what our world will be. think of bush keeping power and how much damage he has caused in a few years and how much he can cause in the next four. our country has the worst reputation. i'm embarrassed to call it our country. YOUR country.
bergan county is stuck in it's own secluded/close-minded suburban world, and we need to find a way to expand people's mind capacities. it's not happening because these morals are so deeply instilled in the communities' minds.

it hurts.
