I just got back from four days at MSU, it was great. Overall. Not at first. I got to see what party dorm life is like, even among "Christians" and there was a bit much drinking and smoking and flirting and watching sketchy movies, and I am not looking forward to that at all. And then I stayed the night at the household after talking with the UCO guys until late into night... and that was better than the party thing. And then I went and played basketball the whole next morning on Saturday, and then had lunch with John Karagoulis with whose house I was staying. Then I went t the brotherhood center in Chelsea, (their worldwide headquarters) and had an awesome Lords-day with an awesome group of guys, about 30 of us. And then I returned to Lansing and did some stuff in the evening with the UCO (Which is University Christian Outreach) and that was fun. And then on Sunday we got to wake up early in the morning and chant psalms and have a totally awesome prayertime, just after breakfast and right before mass, and after that we came back for brunch. I forgot to mention this earlier, but the Brothers are thee best cooks, you will ever find. They have many years of ancient cooking lore and experimentation under their belts, and they are without rival (that I am aware of.) So that was awesome, and then we relaxed for a bit before the Community gathering, (at which were all the leaders from summer-camp, and that was cool) and they had an excellent talk about pastoral care (which I got a copy of, it might be good to read over if you have some extra time...Although I am hesitant to type it all up...), and there was a good fellowship and worship time as well. Fun fun fun. Then I went back with the brothers again to their Lansing house, and we had another fantastic dinner and Lords-day closing and a fun few games of sequence (of which I lost 83% of), and then it was time to sleep again. The next morning we were up again with prayer and chanting in the early morning hours, and then I went out for breakfast with the leader of that brotherhood community. (Or one of the leaders, an absolutely great guy, my parents knew him better when I was a child, but yeah...) So anyway, then I got a tour of the Campus, and then I got to talk to admissions people and go on a tour of Campus, and I got home today. Of course about a million other things happened, but that is probably enough to suitably bore you so I will leave it at that.
Anyway, so God was doing cool things and such. I still cannot explain the Brothers, but they are very cool and very very much in Love with the God they serve. And they are obedient. And peaceful. And funny. And good chefs. Good people to hang out with, them brothers.... So that is that, again I will be gone until Friday night so please excuse my absence, I shall return. Or not. If I die in a car accident from driving too much, what with all the trips to Lansing and Detroit and all...
Cheer to you! Have a wondrous day, filled with wondrous awe of a wonderful Lord!
In Christ,
~Joe
