Robert Redford has a killer cast for “The Conspirator,” the period drama he is directing about the aftermath of President Lincoln’s assassination.
Tom Wilkinson, Evan Rachel Wood, Kevin Kline and Alexis Bledel will join James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn in the drama, which is being financed by the American Film Co., a venture headed by online brokerage entrepreneur Joe Ricketts.
Shooting began Monday in Savannah, Georgia.
SOURCE Alexis Bledel has played the super brainy Rory Gilmore on TV for years. Now she is in the new role, playing James McAvoy’s wife in The Conspirator, directed by Robert Redford. The drama about Mary Surratt played by Robin Wright Penn, the only woman to be tried for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
According to Variety Alexisl is among a whole bunch of people who have joined the cast, including Kevin Kline, Tom Wilkinson, and Evan Rachel Wood. Wilkinson part in the movie will be to play a mentor to McAvoy’s character, a lawyer defending Surratt.
The jury is still out on Bledel’s acting skills, the rest of the cast seems fantastic, and it will be exciting to see a different take on Lincoln and the Civil War. Filming has already begun in Savannah, Georgia, and I can’t wait to see all these people together in one place.
