Does the doctor not want you to gain more than 25 pounds TOTAL or just at this point? Every woman is different, and we gain weight for a reason. We gain it in our breasts because we are preparing to FEED THE BABY. We gain it in our butt because it's a COUNTERWEIGHT. If any doctor is telling you to limit your weight unnecessarily in pregnancy (and keeping you to 25 pounds TOTAL is ridiculous, IMO), consider changing to a midwife.
The reason we gain weight is because of the baby, the placenta, the lining of our uterus, and the reserves we store. We NEED those stores because the baby WILL get what it needs from our body. We will eat post-pregnancy to feed the baby, but we ourselves live off the fat we've stored.
If you don't want to gain unnecessary weight, it's rather easy. The key is the second trimester. That's when the baby is doing the least amount of serious growing, so when you have cravings for ice cream (for calciuim) or pickles (for antioxidants) or whatever, just have a normal portion rather than the entire half gallon or jar. That's where a lot of women make their mistake, thinking the baby will take all the weight, excess calories, etc. Wrong; we do.
And you're beautiful, so don't let some stupid doctor try to tell you otherwise about pregnancy!
