I'm home from school, finally. The "home" part doesn't matter quite so much as the "from school" part; driving away from Goucher felt so good. Yesterday I went bike riding on the northcounty trails for a couple hours and it was so relieving to be back in the New York woods again. What I contrast from where I've been. I dare someone to find a place uglier than Towson, Maryland.
I got into St Andrews. The catch: they let me in as a first-year student, not as a transfer, meaning it is pretty much a no go. It's nice I got accepted to a really excellent school, but the terms of acceptance are far from ideal.
So now I'm waiting on McGill and the American University of Paris.
McGill is real sketchy about acceptance rates for transfer students, so I have no idea how that will turn out. They post decisions between March 2 and May 18, so I've been checking regularly (only two days a week--Wednesdays and Fridays--so I don't go crazy from seeing "Further review required" too many days in a row), but nothing yet.
I should hear from AUP within the next week and a half. I think Paris would be a really good place for me. I wouldn't be bored, and it is an ideal place to study French and art history. And if AUP becomes too expensive, I can probably try and transfer to the Sorbonne. I am trying to decide how intimidated or not I would feel living in such a big city. I really think I would be okay.
And for now I wait.
On a different note, spring break has been really, really nice so far.
