On Friday May 12, 2006, my 6th grade history teacher, Tom Reince, died of a heart attack. I wish I had visited him more. Like Oni said, he's one of those teachers where you'll visit in 10-15 years and he'd remember you. He'd remember what you wanted to be when you were 11 and laughed at the fact that you're now 20 and something completely different. Not only that but he's someone you'd actually want to visit. It's very upsetting that my sister will be able to have the pleasure of learning from him next year. I remember he shared our interests and when we broke up with our boyfriends in 7th grade, we could ditch and cry in his class. I remember in 7th grade, he was my date to one of the dances. He'd listen and relate with us. And he loved Britney Spears. He will be missed greatly.
Here are some details about what happened, Steven M. wrote this:
Mr. Reince was a good friend and distant family member. There are rumors going around that he died, so I just wanted to take a minute to give the full story.
Yes, it is true. Tom Reince passed away on Friday, May 12, of a heart attack in his Long Beach home. He was in his armchair reading a newspaper when his heart attack occured. His wife was in Texas at the time, visiting their eldest daughter, who had just given birth to their first grandchild, the same day of his passing. His other daughter was also in Fiji on her honeymoon. The next day, Saturday, a neighbor noticed his newspaper had not been taken in, so he went over to check on him to find him dead. Mr. Reince was 58 years old. He will be greatly missed.
I will post later to inform you of any services and memorials.
