high school sponsors donkey basketball
by anastasia conklin
what image comes to mind when you think of "donkey basketball?" it is exactly what it sounds like. high schoolers who simultaneously ride donkeys and play basketball.
cassadaga valley high school is sponsoring a fund-raiser for their drama club and school musical by playing this unique yet fun game. joe bradger is the head of the drama club and helped organize the game last year as well. last year brought in close to a thousand people and was "the largest crowd in recent history in our gym," bradger said.
tim shaw provides the donkeys to the high school and also serves as referees. shaw owns about 10 donkeys. he trains them and takes them to area schools to play this variation on basketball.
"he's been all over," braeger said. "the turnout was so great last year that we decided to do it again."
the game will take place friday, oct. 21 at 7 p.m., where the juniors amd seniors will take on the teachers. cost at the door is $5. braeger promises many laughs and fun for the whole family.
...
well he wasn't kidding about that one.
i can't believe they're fucking serious.
well, it's casadaga. the same school that had a ride your tractor to school day last year. i'm really not surprised, sadly.
there was also an article in the pennysaver, "donkey for sale". 3 1/2 feet tall. 500 bucks or best offer.
this motivates me to read the paper more often...
i'm amused beyond words.
