Booklist 2007

Feb 20, 2007 15:34

Okay, so I'm a little late to the party, but I decided that a booklist would be a good idea. I'll try to update it as I go.

Books I've Read
1 - Something Borrowed, Emily Giffin - A guilty pleasure book. I read it in two sittings, which is kind of embarrassing. I would highly recommend this book if you're looking for an easy read that will keep you entertained.

2 - Smashed: Story of a Drunken Girlhood, Koren Zailckas - I didn't find this book to be much of a page turner, but definitely an honest memoir of her experience and difficulties with alcohol.

3 - The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls - Another memoir, but this time covering Walls' experience growing up in poverty and how she was able to move away from home and gain success. Highly recommended.

4 - Night, Elie Wiesel - A short book about Wiesel's experience during the Holocaust and his time spent as a young boy in the concentration camps. A very quick read but it definitely sticks with you long after you finish reading it.

5 - The Center of Winter, Marya Hornbacher - I could not put this book down. This was Hornbacher's first fiction novel and it is amazing. The way in which she depicts the family within the story makes you feel like you are part of it. Highly recommended.

6 - One More Day, Mitch Albom - Very different from Albom's other works but still interesting. It really hit home to me at this stage in my life.

7 - The Devil Wears Prada, Lauren Weisberger - An easy, lighthearted read. Entertaining and uplifting.

Currently Reading:
8 - Lucia, Lucia; Adriana Trigiani

"To Read" List:
Stolen Lives, Malika Oukfir and Michele Fitoussi
The Red Tent, Anita Diamant

Feel free to recommend!!
