I truly feel that I was put on this earth to be a humanitarian. The need to help people surges inside me and for once, I feel like I can actually do something. And now I'm going to write in this online journal in hopes that you can feel inspired to do the same, because all of us can help in some way. No matter how old you are, or how much money you have, or which organization you wish to help, you can change people's lives.

First off, educate yourself. Find out what is going on in the world, as horrible as it is. Remember that sometimes you may think one part of the world is in the most need, but that might not be true. Look for small organizations, because not everything reaches your television screens at the end of the night. A lot of disasters are hidden.

Think about an issue that you feel strongly about. Whether it be famine, poverty, children, women, education, peace...anything, or everything put together. Research. The internet is an amazing tool to help you reach out to the rest of the world. Once you find an organization you feel you can help with, do it. Don't sit around and put it on a list of things you'd like to do someday. Do it right now.

We are so spoiled these days, and we don't even realize it. I know I am, and I know you are too. Instead of buying those new jeans/shoes/cd's/mac makeup...donate it to someone who needs it so much more than you do. Instead of paying $50 for gas, take the bus, and sponsor a woman in need (womenforwomen.org.) You know, it's the little things that count! If you see donation boxes in local businesses for the tsunami disaster relief (redcross.org.), empty your pockets for change. It takes two minutes and it helps so much.

And if you don't feel like that's enough, go to the extreme. Consider working for the peace core ( peacecorps.gov) or something similar ( unicef.org).

Just think about it. Seriously.
