Aww to the opening phone conversation :( Especially when David sighed into the phone. It would be hard not to be convinced by that.

"David Wright. Third-baseman for the New York Mets. From Chesapeake, Virginia. And, yes, Virginia is for lovers..."

XD Indeed ...

Ahem, my kink aside. *moves on*

David digs down under the paper and pulls out a white t-shirt. He laughs.

Big black letters "Virginia is for Lovers" with a two red hearts.

*squeak* Oh, I just melted. Absolutely melted. That was wonderfully done XD

Jose is laying curled up next to him, head resting on his chest. David can tell he's asleep as he lets a hand come to rest in his moppy hair. It's a scene that's become familiar and he finds comfort in it, even if he doesn't know why.

That's such a comfortable thing to picture. David just resting a hand in his hair. *happy sigh* They're perfect.

David smiles before leaning in for a kiss. "Yeah. I'm fine." He wraps his arms around Jose's waist and pulls him in close. "I'm fine."

I thought you did a really nice job with that tension between them, especially in the last scene. Reading along, we all know they know they shouldn't be feeling what they still do - or doing what they inevitably do (damn fade to black :p). But the way you wrote it, it was really touching. Like feeling and knowing at the same time. Or something :)

He finally turns back around, a fist clenched tight around his cap. He looks scared. Lost. "I shouldn't what?" His voice shaky.

I really loved the cap too. The whole "clinging to it" thing, because he's clinging to this whole "I have to be strong" mentality at the same time. But he drops both, because he needs Mike more. Metaphor~! ;D

I've loved this so far. It's so very good.

I think it's impossible for me to write either David or Jose without including the other. X) I miss the moppy hair Jose had all last season. He buzzed it off after Japan. :(
