when i was little
i was determined to see the world, to be great, to be happy, to be a success, to be brilliant, to change the world.
When I was little I had role models like mary kate and ashley (some role models now huh) but i was going to travel and be smart and fashionable and beautiful and adventurous.
As Phi Theta Kappas Alpha Omicron Xi's new Vice President I will be flying out to Philadelphia for the 90th International PTK convention with a ticket paid for by the school staying in a hotel paid for by the school attending seminars, forums, meetings with key note speakers like the author the joy luck club, and the cnn reporter Christiane Amanpour. I will attend a few social events, and few black tie dinners, and an all out formal gala.
When I realized Im starting to fullfill those childhood dreams, I realized how lucky I am, that i am one of the lucky ones whose hard work is and WILL pay off. I was in charge of my first event last week with guest including Dean Berry and OCC president Dr. Shadko and it was a success we inducted 8 new members with 40 guests bearing witness with light refreshments and entertainment. I don't think Ive ever seen my mother so proud. Especially as everyone who walked by congratulated her and informed her that I was being groomed for the presidency next fall.
I can't wait to show her what a great job she did raising me. Im going to show her that every sacrifice she made being a single mom I am grateful for. Because I wouldnt be here with out her and the things she gave up.
