I'm so one of the 5th grade friends :pits_the_ballJanuary 24 2006, 04:03:35 UTC
Yes, it's scary. But it will also be fun! Imagine grocery shopping by yourself! It's a hilarious concept to me, but I went grocery shopping with only my sister and Ashley the other day and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And visiting each other at our first shitty apartments complaining about our shitty jobs...it is a rite of passage, that you can really enjoy with good friends.
The great thing about life is it moves in stages. First you're all dependent on your parents. Then you say, get a job. Then you get a car. So you're driving yourself places and paying for a lot of your non necessities. Then you go to college, and to help pay for college you either get another job or a better job, so your making even more of your own money. And college is a whole new level of responsibility in its self. If you skip class, there is no chance of someone calling your parents or you "losing credit." If you're late every day, the professor may not like you, but you won't be punished, or he won't even notice. You're COMPLETELY responsible for your own grades. Completely. And then during or after college, you move out. To a crappy apartment that you struggle to pay rent on, but you're out anyhow. And with luck your jobs keep getting better and better and more towards what your career is.
See...it's not like life is just throwing this all at us. It's slowly taking us there, step by step. When we get to this hypothetical "there," we'll be ready and we'll have nothing to worry about. Because above all else, above all the things life throws at as, we'll have each other, and everything will be alright :)
