New Years

Mine was sweet. I went down to the stirling ranges.

For anyone who hasnt been I would recommend it. The mountains aren't as
huge as o/s but it is mountains the west aussie way. The stirlings is
one of i think 25 biodiversity hotspots in the world which means 1000's
of different plant and animal speciesn many found no where else in the
world. The place has a real presence.

I was kept awake most nights by the emus scratching aroundi n the bush
behind the tent. It took me a while to realise it was emus. Being
paranoid and delusional at times I first thought it was "noatch"
(aboriginal word for spirits of the dead that apparently inhabit the
area). But I am pretty sure emus.

Bluff knoll was a great climb, fucking freezing at the top though,
there were clouds swirling around us. My arms and hands were numb. Lots
of friendly lizards.

For those who like camping Waychinicup NP is 70kms south of stirlings
access down cheyne beach rd, limited facilities but plenty of
bandicoots and beautiful scenery. Cheyne's beach nearby with the
brightest clearest bluest water I have ever seen.

Awesome trip, only shit thing was that our wallets got stolen down in
denmark yesterday, we think that someone took our keys from beach while
we were snorkelling (madfish island was cool) and raided the car.
bastards also took my shorts! So will be wearing waterproof key
enclosure or big combination padlock for keys next holiday/beach
experience. Could have been worse. Luckily only lost wallets and shorts.

My wallet was found yesterday by denmark police, so will get my dive card back, Would have cost me $55 bucks to get a new one, so am happy with that.
