This one was quite a busy weekend!
Friday, Erin and I enjoyed the Sip & Sketch held at
Infusion Tea in College Park.
For $45, you eat an awesome meal, have your choice of delicious tea, and take home your own painting. Plus, you don't need to bring any supplies or experience. The instructor will walk you through every step. Great for a date night!

Assistant Lee distributes paint to fellow artists-in-training.
Oh, it's also BYOB, but we chose wine. I originally wanted to make it hardcore and get Absinthe - the artist's favorite!
Done! No, we're letting the backgrounds dry
Good stuff here
Look, I created a new still life!
I was guiltily working away. I just wanted to have fun with it, but they were all like "OOOHH! A REAL artist in our midst!" I tried to explain that painting wasn't my strong suit, but they weren't having it.
Work in progress
Insert jug joke here.
Time's almost up, paint like the wind!
Time for the jar...
Erin's piece. Her style even inspired the instructor!
Oops!
I liked her painting, they style and color choice.

Now, let me whisk you away to Saturday for the FX Show 2008! Here's our set-up. Present were

Joel Carroll.
a Gammorean Guard from Return of the Jedi!
Polish Star Wars figures! Who knew?
This was the view from our tables.
That's right, there was WRESTLING this year at FX. What?
Talkin to Ron
Short skirts. Too short, perhaps
YES!
Dusty and Beachhead from G.I. Joe
Girls wrastlin'. and there's Mike, of course!
The flamboyant Heart Break Express vs. the Baywatchers
Pre-SENT!
Cool General Grievous costume
Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
Jedi Guy
Wasabi Anime panel at the costume contest, featuring Chris and Angie of
DUPLISITY!
Ok, let me explain this. She was dressed like
Pris from Blade Runner, and I though it would be great if we could stage the
attack like in the movie. However, I don't know that she had even seen the movie, based on her expression.
Werewolf sketch for Manny
Nathan drawing
Joel's
City of Heroes commission
NARUTO!!! This guy actually was Japanese.
Lastly, we saw Blue Bug and Booster Gold running around, but they didn't have good choices on footwear...
Huh.
In summary, it was a strange show. I made table thanks to my Star Wars prints, Joel got a lot of commisions, but no one really sold much of anything. We did get to meet some fellow comic artists, and that's always cool. Also, I saw Esh of the 501st and his fiancee Lauren, so HEY!
Ok, back to work....
