Clancy and Finny are two of my oldest characters, and actually almost got cut from being drawn at all at one point! They've probably changed the most out of all my characters, and they're the first characters I ever started thinking of a 'canon' for. Before them, I had characters, but they were just drawn once in a while and then forgotten about because they didn't have any back story.
What started everything was getting Everything to Everyone, by the Barenaked Ladies. I don't know why it was that CD out of all the other ones I had ever listened to, but it just kicked me into gear and inspired me so much. Super lame, but it's the CD that ~*changed my life*~. War On Drugs is still my very favourite song, even though it makes me sad whenever I listen to it, haha.
I've been to see BNL in concert several times, and the one time they played it, Page was saying that people had been jumping from the Bloor viaduct, and they had to put on these rods that were too close together for people to slip through to make them stop. The rate of suicide there had been about one every 22 days. He then said that it didn't actually stop anyone; they just went and found another bridge to jump off of. The whole place laughed after that, but I think it's incredibly tragic. They almost didn't even put the thing up because they didn't want to make the bridge ugly. People are concerned about weird shit.
Anyway, that's there reason there's quite a bit of Barenaked Ladies stuff on this one, mostly from that CD. Most of the second half is more story related, while the first is mainly just songs that make me want to draw them, haha.
