Little FMA fanfic

Feb 19, 2010 23:28

I'm thinking of joining an FMA fic community; scribbled this down between shifts at work as a preliminary test of skills. I don't think I've written a fanfic since I was in grad school. :(

Title: Ice Alchemy
Fandom and Characters: Fullmetal Alchemist, Isaac the Freezing Alchemist
Rating and Word Count: Teen, 150

Freezing is easy.

It was easy in the war, when the air was so heavy and hot that it begged his skill to make it bearable.  It was easy to inspire fear; he'd been like a god, or perhaps some demon, to the desert people who had never before glimpsed ice.  He'd had a presence on the battlefield that his contemporaries--Flame, Strong-Arm, and even that mad dog Crimson--had not, and that was why they'd kept him around.  Because he'd made it all so easy.

It's easy now, too.

There's more water here in Central than there was in the dry desert, when he'd been reliant on Ishbalan blood and the precious liquids he'd carried in canteens strapped to his legs.  Here he can tap into puddles and sewers and yes, even that old trick of human fluids. He can do it. He *has* to do it.

Because this has all gone much too far already.
