Progress Report

Nov 07, 2005 02:50

So, after last night, I was behind, big time.

I got caught up.

I'm now in the middle of chapter 10 - will be posting more after getting *some* comments on 5 and 6 ... don't want to bombard people altogether.

Word count is now, ta da!

You totally get a cookie! Maybe even three.

I'll do my best to procrastinate in your direction tomorrow. :) (I mean, y'know, read what you have up. ;D )

Bravo! I just now realized that your goal is more than the 50,000, so I don't feel so bad that you're majorly stomping on my total. :D

Yes, it's strange. Last year at this time, I wasn't planning to finish the novel I was working on, I was planning to get to 50,000 words. By this time last year, I'm positive I had fewer words than I do this year at this time. I also know that I had more than the daily goal (I was going for 2,000 a day) and I remember it feeling really easy. Like, I'd come home and write for an hour, and ta da! 2,000 words.

This year, it's like pulling teeth just to get the first 1,000 and then... So, even though my word count is officially higher than it was last year, it *feels* lower, because I'm just *barely* making my daily goal, and it's really hard.

*suddenly is unsure if you're talking to me or klawz - I don't know what her word total is, and I could have just made a fool of myself*

I think they were talking to you. :D I do intend to write a novel-length story, but it's not my goal to reach 80,000 words by the end of NaNo. (And, also, I don't think that person is on my LJ list, and certainly hasn't commented on any of my NaNo entries. :D)

Also, I apologize in advance/belatedly for flooding your Inbox if you get these comments mailed to you. >_>

Really, what happened last year was that after November ended, I lost all momentum, even though the story wasn't done. Having a higher November goal I'm hoping will force me to keep the momentum up to the end of the story. I don't know if that will work. I think it will if my story is 90,000 or less, but if it's longer... I worry I'll have the same problem. *sigh*

Oh, and no problem about the Inbox thing. It makes it a lot easier to *find* the comments :) Otherwise, if I forgot the number of comments per entry, I'd have to check every single entry to find out if there was a comment. And I like getting comments :) (especially really helpful ones, like yours...)

Cool! Though 'tis not required :) And thanks for the cookies! (I actually have some, so I'll eat three for you).
