may just be down to opinion but...
Season two of prison break is sick
Season three of desperate housewives is hilarious
Michael kicks Balleck (sp?) in the face and i found it so shocking i actually did that really fake 'im shocked' look.
sometimes i worry about how much we undermine each other's intelligence:
A fishing accessory that says 'may cause harm if swallowed' (and is 5 inches long)
A pram that says : Remove baby from pram before folding
Summer schools have put a ban on sun tan lotion in america, fearing it could spur complaints of indecent touching.
40, 000 schools in america have put a ban on recess, fearing too many kids get hurt or kidnapped
Some schools in america have put a ban on running altogether during lunch time, fearing children may have an accident
"Are we paralysed by risk aversion?" - yes. the lack of confidence in our own ability to stick to our aims and common sense is appalling and therefore our society has swirled out of control trying to reach the unattainable '0% risk' factor and is loosing sight of the real risks we take everyday.
I ate cereal and i swallowed the goody-prize, now im going to sue the company brand. Try opening your eyes when you eat your food, it is always shamelessly advertised when there is the chance of a prize inside so don't buy the cereal if you doubt your competence when it comes to spotting a shiny metallic object.
Other examples: Mad cow disease - and how many people got that/ 150. right. more people die falling down the stairs a year then have ever died from mad cow disease.
The millennium bug: The world thought that aeroplanes were going to fall out of the sky when the clock struck midnight and the computers went haywire.
I'm not as bothered about it as that may have suggested, but i was when i typed it five minutes ago and the people who were arguing it were very convincing.
I don't like excuses. I like explanations because every case is different, but if you do something wrong you should still admit it and expect a certain degree of consequence. maybe not the same as someone who does it in an unabashed and blatantly disrespectful manner as opposed to your genuine 'i was having a bad day,' but still something.
okay, now i really do have to stop procrastinating
