scorpion in my mailbox! (the real kind, orz)

today was... normal. surprising after the way this week started. >>;

Monday - did our store's inventory in roughly an hour, then headed over to 35th and Northern (NOT GONNA PROTECT THEIR IDENTITIES) to do theirs since their manager was on vacation. I'm supposed to be there 30 minutes - everything should be counted, added, ready to input into the computer system. HAH. I spent 2 hours there counting, tracking down sales reports and invoices, and still had to make best guesses for certain numbers.
the thing that really bugged me? it was completely obvious that the baristas had never been coached to maintain the appearance and atmosphere of their store. the tables were covered in sticky mess and crumbs, the shelves were dusty, the baskets nearly empty (and even if they'd been full, there wasn't enough filler in them to keep the merchandise visible), the biscotti/cookie/etc display was half-full and dust-coated, and their coffee shelf wasn't even half full :| I asked the barista if they were really out of that much coffee, and she said yes. naturally, I was surprised to find a full case of each variety in their back room. they also had clearance items left over from Easter. seriously. what.
and you think this would maybe be from newbies, or people who don't like their manager. but all these seasoned baristas (a year or more of working there) could do was fangirl over their manager, because he works at two stores and works 70 hour weeks, and he really needs this vacation... he doesn't seem like a very good manager to me. he left to go on vacation after a barista was let go, leaving only three people to maintain the store while he was gone. NOT ENOUGH, HELLO? and how could he not take ownership over how terrible that lobby was? a good manager wouldn't have a store that looks like that while they're gone. UGH.

Tuesday - apparently, one of my baristas went to the hospital with a mini-stroke, and she called in and talked to my venue manager team to say she'd be out for at least a week. management team all knew. did they inform anyone in Starbucks? no. and since the sick barista didn't have much energy (obv., gosh), she didn't call or text me, since that should have been the venue managers' job.
I found out ALL of this 15 minutes after she was supposed to be at work, and we have nobody to cover her shift that won't charge us overtime. I wind up feeling like a jerk because I didn't know she'd been hospitalized, I just thought she'd looked at the wrong week's schedule (2pm most Tuesdays, but 1:45pm this Tuesday). now if the management team had informed anyone in Starbucks about this, the schedule would have been rearranged, no stress and no overtime, and we would have been making retarded get well gifts and cards to send to the hospital. >:|

and today there was just a scorpion in my mailbox, so I think everything's back to normal. mostly. so I worked on a new layout, but then I accidentally switched some of my hex codes and don't feel like fixing it right now. but it's prettier than the old layout ♥

also, I've been thinking about getting rid of some of my random plush, extra plush, etc. to make room for more customs, pokedolls, and big TOMY plush. so if there's anyone you know looking for a TOMY Darkrai, pakipaki Charizard and Mewtwo, some normal plate Arceus UFOs, DX(?) Skymin UFO, or the large laying Eevee UFO, let me know~ otherwise I'll be throwing them on ebay in a week or so.
they take up so much SPACE! \o/

asdklfjahdsfklhj bed now z__z been up too long.
