Nature Report : Bird Firsts

May 02, 2011 17:06

A female yellow warbler and a pair of black-and-white warblers were darting about on the big maple near the house too quickly for pictures. We hadn't noticed these around here before so we were quite excited. We kept interrupting our lunch together to run to the windows when one appeared.

A Baltimore oriole was spotted flying through the yard yesterday so we added some oranges to a feeder and today a pair of the birds was spotted feeding there. If they behave as in previous years they will move on in a few days.

We put up the hummingbird feeders yesterday and saw our first of the season feeding today.

ETA: Later saw the male yellow warbler.
