Everyone keeps talking about the holiday "Saint Patrick's Day." I remember the cadets at the academy would celebrate it by wearing green and consuming unhealthy amounts of alcohol. Well, the Irish did and Americans had the 4th of July, plus Australians drank all the time in the 20th Century! I'm allergic to alcohol though so I can't drink.

Actually, Mr. Chekov, St. Patrick's Day did originate in Ireland. It originated as a religious holiday dedicated to St. Patrick, a Catholic saint who "drove the snakes" from Ireland - or, to put it in less metaphorical terms, converted Ireland's pagans to Catholicism.
