cried your eyes out

Sep 11, 2008 16:36

In a rush the world changed colors,
Everyone held their breath and nobody moved
Because everything is about you;
No one speaks before you speak,
No one sleeps if you don’t sleep.
No one keeps a secret if there’s no secret to keep.
You walk in the room--
Where should I stand?
You leave me in the dark--
What should I say?
I must be getting older everyday
Because I am tired.
The comings and goings of love,
The goings and comings of you.
The mark on your neck, the crack in your back,
The soft of your thighs, the words on your tongue…
They all mean nothing now.
The world still turns, unaware of nights I play nocturnal.
You shiver,
I draw near.
You withdraw,
I stay here.
When will everybody know?
I will tell them.
When will everybody know?
In the letter.
“Dear mama,
Stop your crying.
I’m gone for the winter, and the summer,
And the winter after that.
Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about you.
Not ever, I promise.
And a promise is a promise, right?
Right.”
