Two Holidays In One Shot
I know I'm pretty late in doing my Black History Month salute, but I didn't have an idea of what I wanted to say this year. Luckily, for Christmas my mother gave me A Hand To Guide Me by Denzel Washington.
Many influential actors, athletes, politicians, and others lend their own personal stories about the people who impacted their lives. People of all races contributed, but I'll limit this entry to African Americans.
I enjoyed Denzel's own story, but I must also mention African Americans I'd admired even before I read their stories. Hank Aaron, Bill Clinton, Whoopi Goldberg, and...hm...these pages keep flipping up. Who's that blond woman on the inside flap? Why, it's Olympic figure skater Tara Lipinski.
Anyway, moving on. Although I...can't seem to take my eyes off Tara Lipinski. I remember when I was in high school and she won the gold medal in the winter Olympics. My, she's certainly grown into quite the lovely young woman, hasn't she? You know what, I think I'm going to skip ahead and read her story. Hm, that's a nice sentiment about what her mom means to her.
As I was saying, I...why do these pages keep flipping up like that? There's Tara Lipinski again, looking at me with those warm, inviting eyes. I didn't realize her hair was that long and free, her lips that full. What's that, Tara? Run away with you? Well, that's awfully forward of you, but you're right. Two people like us should pursue our burgeoning passion for each other. You really are quite beautiful. I can't seem to collect my thoughts when I look at you. Yes, Miss Lipinski, I will run away and marry you! Oh, think of all the fun we'll have! You'll laugh as I continually fall on my butt in my attempts to skate with you. I'll laugh as you fail to grasp the concepts of Pre and Post Crisis continuity. We'll go antiquing, watch sunsets in each other's arms, and play in traffic. I LOVE YOU TARA!!!
