dane- that sounds like an amazing opportunity, it could also be a once in a lifetime opportunity.. and if you let it pass by you might regret it later... and as you stated above, this is something that you have been dreaming of.. i think you should definitely go for it!!

Dane, you really need to do this. this is a career oppurtunity. four years really isnt that long. your friends might be out of college by then but will they all be busy with careers a year later? i doubt it. and its pretty easy to keep in touch and you may be missing out on the small but great things, but think of the experiences you will have in NY. think of what everyone else will be doing, homework work work. they will hate you if you dont go. a mob might form. in fact i promise you i will start one. good luck buddy.
