(no subject)
Went camping this weekend. We were supposed to be "a little past Hope", which is a two hour highway drive. Turns out, we were 4 hours higway driving from Hope... so 6 hours, into the Rocky Mountains close to the Okanagan. We were near this little town called Keremeos... a rather quaint place nestled between two big big mountains. There was a Pow Wow at the campsite... that was odd. Apparently there's no drinking during Pow-Wows, so some guy decided to just dump my friends' beer out. Weird. They ended up relocating to a different part of the camp ground, further away from the Pow Wow. (I got there after that had happened).
It was a pretty decent time. Not many people showed up unfortunately. Most were too lazy to drive that far. Lame. Danny-O, Chris and Peter left Sunday afternoon to meet up with a bunch of our friends in Kelowna.. some soccer tournament or something. Me and Ryan were kinda bored and decided to leave. I felt bad leaving Jeff, Jeremy and Mike there, but they were probably going to crash at 9pm or something anyway. I also was sick of hearing certain people say "Fucking chugs, I hate them, fuck." every two sentences. Bluggh. Anti-native racism reaaaaalllly annoys (not that any racism doesn't). It just seems that West Coasters are completely ignorant when it comes to Native culture, despite it being a very significant and dominant part of our history.
Anyway, dropped my mom off at the ferry terminal today.. she's got a work seminar in Victoria. Ali came along for the ride. After we dropped off my mom we headed down to Bellingham, Washington. The border guard was rather friendly, and we ended up having a good time despite my getting lost in Bellingham. I didn't know it was possible to get lost in Bellingham.
