*apologies in advance to Mirz...
Last night I caught a local Cleveland newscast for maybe the third time since I've been here (I read the newsPAPER, folks). It was the CBS affiliate, 19 Action News. After the myriad car accident and shooting stories, they switched to a segment where the female anchor was standing with a uniformed police officer next to an upright wheel (think the prize wheel on Regis & Kelly).
As the camera zoomed in, I realized that there were pictures of various men and women on the wheel. Mug shots, rather. That's right. 19 Action News does a segment where a cop spins a wheel of at-large criminals. When the pointer finally comes to rest on a face, the cop (somewhat begrudgingly, I'll give him that) discussed over the perpetrator's crimes and where he was last seen, etc. before a phone number for information flashed on the screen.
Seriously?
Is this what we're doing these days? In the entire half hour report I learned about 4 car accidents, an outbreak of staph infection, and an imprisoned child molester who was attacked and had the words "Katie's Revenge" tattooed on his forehead by other inmates.
Not one mention of state political news, let alone national or, heaven forbid, international.
Seriously.
