I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I COULD MURDER A CURRY

Apr 28, 2011 23:06

ay thar, lj, long time no see.
What's up?

Not much for Cake, obviously.
And somehow, today's theme:

DEATH

Easter weekend was rather bland and involved less zombies than I would have liked, but more family. More of the same family. I had to see them all for lunch, and then three hours later again for a cousin's birthday dinner. Unfortunately, I was pretty bored basically all day. But fooooooood :D After packing in a two-course lunch, I managed to save enough stomach to sample all nine different curries plus extra dishes for dinner that night.
Cake has horrible, horrible stomach adulterating abilities for curry, especially Indian.
Not to mention the extra stomach for dessert, of course. (Um, two different cakes.... >___<;;;)
But to tie into the theme, it could have been a close call, there.
Although "Death by curry and cake" is probably the best epitaph you could ever hope for.

Easter musings:
It's funny when you realise (whilst trying to explain Easter to someone else) that if history had gone a little differently, we might have been celebrating Easter with chocolate brains instead.
OMNOMNOMNOMNOM.
(In you heart of hearts, you know this is what you truly want).

On the other hand, if you eat a choco bunny ears first, you end up with much the same effet, really.

Speaking of death and celebrating at the same time,
here is another fantabulous review of Machine of Death.
I really want a copy of this book. It's so good. I was sad the hardcovers sold out so quickly, but I'm sure they'll run again. In the meantime, you can read the PDF version, or listen to readings of the stories (which are great) for FREE on the official Machine of Death website.

And the best news yet, the release of Machine Of Death 2 was announced~~☆☆
I didn't even know they were planning one~! But it seems like they received so many quality submissions that it must have been inevitable. They are accepting story and art folio submissions now~~~
Not to mention all the amazing things that were created for their recent talent show.
One of which is the following short animation

Anyway,

How about things that can kill you?
The creator of The Meek webcomic seems to have a fascination (a lovely twitter account, btw), and got me researching
Portugese Man O'War
the other day.
Which, it turns out, are blue bottles. I never knew.
I don't think we get them much in WA. Turns out they can't kill you, unlike Mt. Everest, but they can kill small fish for the purpose of nomming, and leave humans with a nasty sting - which, apparently, you wash with salt water and then hot water, and not vinegar, since they are not true jellyfish but FOUR CREATURES FUNCTIONING AS A SINGLE ORGANISM WHUT Σ(゜д゜)
I can't even wrap my brain around this.

What about things I want to kill?
Everyone.
But not today, little one, not today.
Today I want to kill my intarwabs. AAARRGH. WHYYYY.
(it's so bad that this is now yesterday's post. I think it has to do with closing a set of doors in the house, but I don't know....)

Things that are killing me:
Uni.
I hate uni. I can't help it, I just hate so much. I can't bring myself to do any schoolwork, which will probably result in more hate in about a week or two, since I will be a semester behind on three major essays....
I need to leave this hellhole, but I still have to do a DipEd next year. I can't take another 18 months of this.
I am being killed in my soul.

Anywho,

Things that cannot be compared

⚜ apples and oranges
⚜ Tomatoes during the one week of the year they seem to be in season, and all tomatoes for the rest of the year. Don't even get me started on strawberries.
⚜ One's fivesenses.
⚜ Food. I just can't compare my love for chocolate with my love for butter chicken curry. How can I compare the goodness of miso soup to the goodness of strawberry shortcake?
⚜ The original novel and the film adaptation.
⚜ One's feelings for others. You can't compare how much you love a family member to a friend or lover.
⚜ Blue and purple. These seem to be the colours with the most difference in opinion or perception between different people. I always wonder whether it's the perception, or our own personal definitions.
Hoax poetry and real poetry.
(That is, if your pretend, satirical art still works and achieves the superficial goal, and even moves people, then it's no different to the real art, is it? I love this question.)
⚜ old music and new music by the same band.*
sometimes
⚜ sleep-ins when you have to get up and sleep-ins when you have all day to sleep.
