Thanks to the advice of a nice young lad at JBHiFi, Cake ended up buying a multi-purpose charger thing, and now my DSi works!
OHMYGODS YOU HAVE NO IDEA
HOW HAPPY I AM.
So happy.
Apart from wanting to be one of the cool kids with their portable game consoles and their Nintendo doodlemawhatsits, I can now use my Japanese diciontary software again omgyes *RELIEF*
To celebrate, I bought a game! (because my only other game is Kingdom Hearts: Recoded, in Japanese). I bought Final Fantasy: the Four Heroes of Light, completely won over by the adorable artwork (cooooot chibiiis). I swear I recognise the artist from somehwere (where???) ಠ_ಠ
So far, very cute, even if I shouldn't have bought it =___=;
As a side note: Claremont has levelled up! +150! It's pretty rad now. Claremont quarter now has a chocolate shop/cafe and like an extra half a building, with terraces and stuff. There is also a crepe cafe near Bunnings whut. We should go, we should go~☆
YOU CANNOT RESIST THE CREPES AND CHOCOLAAAATE.
Anyway, then I spent the afternoon playing chasey, WallE, dinosaurs that eat cake made of rainbows and cake made of poo, watching an episode of Pokemon where they get chased by haunted appliances while looking for cake, and general four-year-old shennanigans~☆
Also, one out of five boxes of my shipped stuff arrived~~☆
And my copy of Plastic Tree's latest album, Ammonite~~☆
And I caved and bought a new intarwabs thing for Eggbert the desktop~~☆
Unfortunately, I have to contrast this joy with the sad news that Aurelia died.
It may have been that I had no idea how much water to give her, or it may have been that I accidentally ripped the whole plant out of the pot, tearing it away from its roots in a brutal um... brutalness. Thing. A thing. A thing where I was trying to check to see if the pot was too small, since the poor plant had basically halved its size, quartered its flowers and generally confounded me and my well-meaning, if ignorant, care.
In Aurelia's honour, today's
Makua no Soshi meme
is
Surprising and distressing things
☂ That horrible split second where you think you are about to fall down the stairs to your death
☂ how phallic Vietnamese rice paper spring rolls are
☂ being on the receiving end of unrequited affection
☂ crushing a spider's leg when you are trying to rescue it
☂ looking down, seeing blood, looking around, seeing more blood, looking at your finger....
☂ finding out you have significantly less money in your bank account than you thought
☂ how little of Perth is open on a Sunday
☂ the victims of the Japan disaster have turned into numbers because I can't comprehend 13,000 people as anything more than a statistic
☂ there are no animated gifs of Professor Hubert Farnsworth on the entire internet
☂ I forgot TERU's birthday Σ(゜д゜;) Σ(゜д゜;) Σ(゜д゜;)
(April 10th)
because I don't have a calendar at the moment godsdammiiiiiit (a thing that did not arrive in my box of shipped stuff, ARGH).
Well at least he's no different from everyone else I know *SIGH*
(Apparently remembering birthdays has become a fatal weakness of Cake's. I feel like a horrible person all the time all the time.)
Actually, though,
have I written this list before?
Where did the poetry go? The magic? The prose? Ah, Sei Shounanon, you probably want to kill me three times over. Well you can't, because you died first, HA.
(make that four times)
Anywho, speaking of games,
SPIRAL KNIGHTS OMGI finally played it for the first time today. Only ten minutes, but hey.
It's a game FOR FREE ON THE INTARWABS where you are a CUTE ROBOT and you have to do stuff.
I don't really know much more than that, since, being an MMO, you kind of need to play it with other people (I think there is a big emphasis on doing things in teams?) and I'm waaaaay too shy to play with other people, especially since I've never played an MMO before. I've watched people play WOW (and recently LOL (no, I don't actually know what it stands for)), but that's about it. I've gotta say that to the untrained eye, the graphics look just as shiny as any other game (so shiny!) and the art direction is very cute indeed. Since it seems completely free so far, I have no idea what SEGA and the other company are doing to make moneys, but hey.
(´・ω・`)
Other things Cake has been doing recently,
watching all of
Hey Ash, Whatcha Playing?in one day. So goooooood. I think I like the terrorist one (season 3) the best. Unfortunately, watching like thirty ten-minute episodes in as quick a time as possible means I tried to emulate Ash for three days. It was good.
And now, current events!
I have some of those. On my blog. Sometimes.

really lovely interview (audio) with Sir Terry Pratchett, the Magnificent and Amazing. It's current because he was/is just in Sydney and Melbourne (as
narcolepticnemu can attest to) - apparently they have a three day Discworld convention or some such. Fuck you, Perth. Anyway, Sir Terry challenged the Prime Minister to a meeting to discuss voluntary dying, because he is just that awesome.
♕
very useful radiation comparison chart~! To help you make sense of all the Japan/Fukushima goings on. By noneother than
XKCD's Randall Munroe (with the explicit disclaimer that he doesn't know anything about radiation).
♕
why asylum seekers have to riot - basically to remind us that they still exist and things are still horrible for them.
There is more, but for now I leave you with
