Of course, naturally I received my copies (all three, LOL) yesterday
as I was walking out the door to go to uni. So on the way home I bought a new pair of speakers and an external optical drive for the occasion (and also a new pair of headphones - they look like buttons!).
By the way, I`m talking about Versailles, for those who can`t guess.
I was actually meant to do an epic rant when their new costumes were released, but I got busy preparing to leave, and then I left and...
So today is a giant rant and review :D Brace yourselves.
Oh, by the way:
Japan. It has no blu tack. I`ve looked everywhere. It doesn`t exist. And duct tape doesn`t work as well as you`d think for sticking things to walls.
Crazy, Japan. Crazy.
First, we`ll start with outfits, since they released those about two months ago.
Yuki and Masashi.
OMG.
They are the new Sex.
This is totally the best Yuki has ever looked, he is AMAZING.
(My other favourite look for him was... Prince/Princess? I can`t remember. The pic narcolepticnemu had as her FO banner ages back).<\small>
The Parakeet Hair has kind of settled. Or maybe I got used to it. I wonder if it`s here to stay...

They look like demons, it`s fantastic. They are the darkness; what little menacing undertone Versailles has at the moment.
(oh APART FROM THAT TOWEL Teru designed recently. Did anyone see it? ROFLLL it was the band name written to look like it had been written in blood (via fingerpainting). Teru`s comments were along the lines of "It`s okay to do things like this sometimes, right? ;)" The most overt reference to blood Versailles has ever had, me thinks. Go find a picture, you will LOL)
Anyway,
I really like that Yuki and Masashi come as a set of two, the symmetry is nice.
The band symmetry\dynamic had to change of course. Hizaki is now the only girl, which makes me think of him as the Flower Among Thorns - apt, considering.
To make up for this Kamijo has glammed it up.
Look, I know lots of people love his long, blonde locks and whatnot but...
To me, Kamijo was The Sex. He just was. God, could he give a good smouldering look.
I loved his dark, short(er) hair and I always thought the blonde of Prince/Princess didn`t really suit him at all. So... I`m sad now. My smexy Kamijo has donned an 80`s female power-balad hairstyle and ridiculous amounts of bling and done away with high collars.
OH.
The claws. Kamijo, sweetie, you look like you broke into Hizaki`s acrylic nail collection picked the rejects that he wouldn`t notice were missing. Your gloves are black and shiny - gluing two white claws onto one glove just...
just no.
Go take them off, there`s a good boy. If you want claws, I recommend metal, or at least black, you nonce.
So to make up for Kamijo`s lack of sex...
Teru
has come of age.
I`m... I`m waiting for him to get used to it and grow into it. I really hope he`s not taking tips from someone like Sucky, but that would explain the diamantes around his belly button.
But oh, I missed the Teru Belly. And the short shorts are back too!
I never really thought about how much of an exhibitionist my little Teru was until now...
(but thinking about how little clothing he has gotten away with wearing, and that the members design their own costumes... oh. Oh.).
He was always just so completely adorable I basically fell over looking at him.
But after the new pic - I fell over looking at him and HIS SMIRK. He has mastered the sexy smirk. I... Maybe... I needed new pants. Every time I looked at it.
BUT GODDAM GET RID OF THAT HIDEOUS FAKE PONY TAIL ALREADY.
I miss teh fluffy Teru hair ;___;
Also loving the bustle thing going on. But after watching the PV, someone take the cape off him please. Teru should not be allowed props.
And Hizaki. Looks as lovely as usual. Channeling Jasmine, which I think is lovely, although I`m not so sure about that one sash of pink leopard skin print >____<;;;;
I`m so glad he changed his makeup style back (small, glossy lips, not drag-queen lips), but I miss his boofy hair. Did he get it cut?? ;___;

Actually, I felt this PV was really lacking something. I`m not sure what, but...
It was kind of like they were trying to hard or something. It just didn`t quite have that Versailles magic. Maybe it was the set.
I loved the set. I thought it was inspired.
It`s basically what I picture in my head when I hear the songs - the black void and the band playing within it. Because I have no imagination.
I even loved the walls of amps/speakers.
But maybe not having a real location took something away from the decadence and the narrative.
I was expecting a few more gratuitous shots of Masashi, but of course they couldn`t actually put any extra focus on him. That said - WTF WHERE WAS YUKI.
The editor basically remembered at the end of the clip and kind of spammed him for 30 seconds and then nothing again. Poor drummers.
As for Teru and Hizaki, I think maybe someone should teach them some new moves.
Watching Teru wave his hand the same way after every cord got kind of old. And as previously said - maybe Teru should not be allowed props like capes. (then again, oh god, they gave him what, a gun, a knife (?) in Aristocrats Symphony)
Also...
Look, I know guitars are already suggestive, what with being located in the crotch region and having a giant phallic neck for you to finger, but...
Holy crap does he look like he`s having sex with that guitar (oh, to be that guitar!).
I... I am kind of sad for his loss of innocence.
Fuck fuck, I have to go in five minutes.
Anyway, I haven`t made up my mind about them yet, having only heard them three times.
The first time round, I thought Destiny was a little lack-lustre. Didn`t break any new ground, sounded a bit samey. Can tell it`s a Kamijo song because it`s got that pop-ballad thing going on and when the metal and all the guitars/drums/bass first come show up, they kind of sound tacked-on.
But it`s growing on me. I need to read they lyrics.
I liked Hizaki`s Glowing Butterlfly better but ROOOOFL at the name.
I know Hizaki wears a dress and is a pretty princess but
COULD YOU GET ANY GAYER? REALLY? GLOWING BUTTERFLY??
I want to know how they justified that - what`s the song about? From my brief skim of the Japanese lyrics, I think it might be about hope, which is okay. Glowing butterflies all the way, I guess.
And then there`s Libido.
Teru`s song.
While being very apt at describing Teru`s new discovery,
I don`t think "libido" means exactly what you think it means, Versailles.
(Well, I really, really hope not.)
Musically, this is the best song - or my favourite, at least. Teru really is a talented composer and he has such a distinctive style - very bouncy, considering it`s metal ;)
I think this song does the ground-breaking for the single and captures more of the direction Jubilee took.
But I have to listen to them all again and read the lyrics! I may translate and post them, even
