Something has been bugging me, so what the hell, I think I might actually rant about it here. To be honest, I don't even care about it that much, but it is bugging me a little.
I apologise to
letsburn00 for taking an opposing viewpoint.
Girl OD's at Big Day Out: Police are blamed.
(BDO is a music concert, for non-Aussies)
Like
letsburn00 said, the issue of whether Ecstacy should or should not be an illegal drug is completely irrelevant.
I want to know what the fuss is about, and why the police are being blamed. For doing their job. Were they using fear and intimidation? Well, it's not like you'd be scared of being tazered/bashed/abused/interrogated by the police if they caught you, because that wouldn't happen, especially to some random person taking pills at a concert, and especially not to a young girl. So what are you scared of? Going to jail. Why? BECAUSE DRUGS ARE ILLEGAL.
The "fear and intimidation" is fear of being caught breaking the law, and being sniffed by a doggie.
And is it the police's fault that this girl was retarded enough to take all her pills at once? No. How could they even possibly anticipate that? In my opinion, if you have no idea what the correct and fatal dosages of your drugs for your body are, you shouldn't be taking them in the first place. If you are friggin stupid enough to take all your drugs in one hit, maybe the gene pool is better off without you. Did the police force her to take them? No. Could she have thrown them away? Yes.. And who's to say that a girl who obviously didn't think three pills were enough to cause an overdose, wouldn't have tried it later anyway? if she thougth it was okay then, she could easily think that later in another situation.
If she was worried about losing money (is E expensive? I don't know) then OH HO, MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF SPENDING YOUR MONEY ON ILLEGAL DRUGS.
It's not like I don't think that it's tragic that a young girl died, but I think people are knee-jerking in the wrong direction. It's not that I think that a zero-tolerance approach is (or is not) the best way, but in the end, it's a bit irrelevant. People know they are breaking the law, and they have to be prepared for the consequences. You can go to a concert and have a perfectly awesome time without drugs, you know.
/end rant
Yeah, did anyone really care? Anyway.
Plastic Tree.
I has all.
mmmmmmmmmmmm. Thanks
narcolepticnemu for drawing my attention to them :)I think I prefer their stuff as it gets later and later, but I haven't heard it all yet.
Also, today's devaint is
Kayleigh, a photographer/model who shoots rather gothy pictures of herself. It's generally a really lovely gallery, but it is damn long (25 pages). I advise skimming, and I wouldn't bother going back past page 15 or so, but her more recent stuff is pretty neat.
I would like to start sewing things and doing photoshoots (mostly because mucking around with a camera sounds like fun, and any excuse to dress up is a good excuse).... I don't know if I really know anyone who would be into that, though (they have to dress up too. And be seen in public :) maybe the Somnambulist or the Vampress though....
ha ha, really I just want an excuse to play with Mum's shiny camera that is wasted on her.
