Chapter 10 Chapter 11 UPDATE
Kame was more than shocked, his jaw dropped and heart stopped for a second. He became numb and just couldn't believe this. It wasn't just his mind playing tricks with him? He was more than baffled and couldn't say anything just stare at the singer wide eyed.
Yuuya looked at Jin in awe and started to jump excitedly "Akanishi Jin, the monster turned into Akanishi Jin!!" He said, running to the singer, throwing his arms around the legs of the man, looking up at him giggling. He was not shy but a pure child who didn't understand the ranks of people at all. Yuuichirou and Kouji couldn't recover from the surprise so quickly, they looked at Kame then at the singer blinking and while Yuuichirou could only scratch his head not understanding what's going on, Kouji stood up, still looking at the singer.
"Woah. Is he real? Doumo." He bowed unsurely. He didn't know how to behave in front of such a big star. He was not used to visitors, no one visited the house except Hiro and he didn't know any other friends of his brother and well, this surprised him greatly.
"I like your music too, the same amount as big brother! Sometimes I stole his CD and played it! It's good!" Yuuya was tugging on Jin's leg, even his eyes were smiling, eager to say more but before he could continue, he was stopped by Kazuya.
"Yuuya!!" This was what made Kame jump out of his state of shock and scolded his brother while going into their direction. "Don't be so impolite in front of Akanishi-san!"
God, his heart was beating in his chest so much he was afraid it is visible. Why was Akanishi there and what will he do with his brothers? How can he explain it to them? But not only this, they were so innocent and always said the truth; what if they say something Jin shouldn’t know? For example how much the singer's music meant for the young man and how he was treasuring the CD.
"H... hi uhh... Why? I… mean... uhh..." He looked at Jin still totally confused and questions were piled up in his head.
The singer was rooted to the spot in surprise and for a short time he didn’t know what to say at all. He knew that his call-boy lived with his young brothers, but somehow he didn’t expect to meet them… like waiting there as a welcoming committee. But as Kazuya came closer to him with that expression he was sure they haven’t expected him showing up at all. May he should have left a short mail before leaving… well, it was too late now pondering about that.
“Good morning. Sorry for dropping by so… suddenly. Anou, could you help with these, Kazu-chan?” he looked at the confused man in front of him pleading. Both of his hands were full with the stuff he has bought and Yuuya was not helping him with locking his feet to the ground making him unable to move.
"Kazu-chan??" Yuuichirou gaped; this is going to be interesting. The familiarity the singer used when addressing his big brother indicated friendship. Could it really be like that?
Kazuya was still numb from the unexpected visit; his mind didn't even register the things the other was holding so far. But now that he was made aware of them, the other shock came. What were the things the other was holding? He didn't know how to handle the situation at all, but he nodded slightly and extended his hand, getting some of the bags from the man and the flowers as well. Maybe Jin just left something there and came to pick it up and was in a hurry. The things by him were surely for someone at his workplace, a girl perhaps. This made his heart sink a little though he didn't have time to ponder about anything.
"Uh... Good morning Akanishi-san... It is... okay." He couldn't use just Jin in front of his brothers, right? Oh yes, the brothers.
"Yuuya! Let go of him!" He raised his voice on the child and that obligated, letting the singer go, but didn't go far, his eyes still shining excitedly.
"I will help you too Jin! I heeelp!" He was jumping up and down and Kame glared at him.
"Where are your manners?? How did you just address Akanishi-san??"
“Oh, thank you,’ Jin smiled at the little boy warmly while his right hand ruffled at the dark locks of the youngest Kamenashi. “So… you should be…”
The smile of the child grew even wider and he said his name enthusiastically, stepping closer. "I am Kamenashi Yuuya, nice to meet you Akanishi-san!" He bowed but in a record speed then his eyes were on the singer again.
“Nice to meet you Yuuya-kun. It’s okay to call me Jin. My friends call me like that and I like it that way,” his eyes smiled at the kid, but they travelled back to the shocked face of the oldest Kamenashi, sending the message to the younger man as well. He felt somewhat embarrassed around the whole Kamenashi family, so it was not needed to put him into such a distance with his name.
“Do you like doughnuts? I thought we could have a nice breakfast together if you don’t mind.” Jin said turning to the youngest.
That was... something. Kame again became fully surprised. What was this all about and why? First he got slap from reality when the singer disappeared and he woke up alone. Just again when he swore himself Akanishi Jin is out of his life, when he started to build the walls, stronger than they were before, Jin appeared and turned his world upside down for the hundredth time. He was here, it was not a dream, behaving so kind with his brothers even bringing breakfast.
"Ohhh!! I have never eaten doughnuts; I only just saw them on TV! Can I eat it? Really??" The child was even more happier, he clapped his little hands together while Kouji and Yuuichirou just looked dumbfounded. The famous Akanishi Jin in their doorway calling them friends bringing food of the rich people?
Kame watched the scene, holding the stuff still wondering why on Earth the singer was there. The fear of his was, that his brothers were used to a lifecycle. He wanted to buy them so many things, let them eat delicious meals, sweets but he knew that he couldn't afford it. If the singer showed them another kind of life they were just kids, they can't get used to the poor situation after it ever again. They were not like he was.
"Won't you be late from work?" He asked turning to Jin but he didn't even know himself which answer would he be more glad to hear.
“Of course you can eat them, Yuuya-kun, but let some for the others too,” the singer chuckled ruffling again into the locks of the happy kid. Somehow it made his mood lighter and he was looking forward to have a few words with the other kids too. He hoped those will ease up soon, but Kazuya’s question surprised him a little.
“Well, I have the day off, so… “ he scratched the back of his head being insecure - once in a while it can happen to a star either. “I could stay and… but if you have another plan.”
Seeing the singer so unsure in himself, Kame automatically replied "No, no, it's okay, come in." The answer came a little too early in his opinion though, but he just couldn't suppress it. His irrational side which wanted to spend as much time as possible with Jin won yet again and he hated himself because of it. Nothing good could come out with Jin and his brothers under one roof.
“Thank you,” Jin said finally handing over the last bag, which contained the pack of hot liquids to Yuuya and took off his shoes. By the time he slipped out of his jacket Yuuchirou appeared next to him and took care about his clothe hanging it to the wall to the other coats. Jin let himself being tugged by the youngest till they reached the table, where Kazuya turned around with the huge bunch of flowers in his hands.
Yuuichirou and Kouji looked at each other. They would have never thought that this can happen but then just grinned. Doughnuts!
"By the way… uhhh... I put the flowers into water so they won't wither until they reach the person you wanted to give them." Kame said looking at the big banquet he was holding and fought not to feel jealous. It was a very good indirect way to let the young man know Akanishi was already kind of taken.
“I don’t think they will, because. You know… those are for you, Kazu-chan. Happy New Year and… such things… “ but his voice died out watching the expression around him as if he had announced the aliens took over the world or something.
Kame's jaw dropped for the nth time during the day but now even Yuuya's did so too. Kazuya had a hard time not to let the things, which he was holding out of his hands, that much he was taken aback. His heart started to bump in his chest as crazy and he knew he must have had the slightest shade of red on his cheeks. He had never gotten roses from anyone and now he did... from the man he was secretly in love with... from Akanishi Jin, the big star and singer. For... why? Was it common in the world Jin lived in to bring flowers to New Year? He really didn't want to misunderstand the act, but it had a huge effect on him. Did Jin know what he was doing to him?
"F...For...me?" He stared at the singer questioningly, embarrassment mixed with confusement was visible all over his face.
"Cool. You are like a prince." Kouji gaped. A worldwide star gave a huge banquet of red roses to his big brother, addressing him as Kazu and took care for all of the family bringing food?
Jin sat down to the chair, where Yuuya led him taking a few insecure glares at the shocked guys before his eyes stopped on the eldest member of the family. Kazuya’s cheeks were red as the flowers, which he was holding in his hands and that picture made Akanishi smile widely like an idiot.
“I thought I should take them as some present for you. My visit came too… sudden, right? I didn’t want to disturb your family breakfast anyway. I just wanted to thank you for last night… I mean the concert and all… you know,“ now Jin felt how his cheeks heated up a little in embarrassment. How could he get himself into such a situation anyway? Well, the end of his sentence turned into some mumbling. ”Though I didn’t know if you like roses at all.”
'It is just a thank you gift, calm down, calm down.' No matter how many times Kazuya repeated this in himself, the situation was so awkward he blushed more and more. Thank you for... spending the night together? Was it... common to behave like this after that? Jin didn't know if he liked roses? Apparently what the singer really didn't know was what red roses mean. 'Stop it Kazuya, stop acting as if he just confessed. Thank you gift, do you understand? Thank you gift.'
"Oh, thank you. Uh... I am the one who... should say thank you for ... you know....everything and that you brought presents... and breakfast it was really... not necessary at all."
The three brothers saw Kame like this the first time in their lives. Babbling, fully embarrassed and awkward. Yuuya was too busy with the thoughts of doughnuts and his star being in front of his nose, but Yuuichirou and Kouji felt they were left out from a lot of explaining. How could their brother meet the singer and what makes the man behave as if he was actually the prince of Kazuya?
"Let's eat~~~" Yuuya tugged the singer's sleeves and looked at him with big eyes.
Kame got himself together and with his two brothers they put the things Akanishi brought them onto the table. It was a lot and Kazuya started to not understand this situation at all. Flowers as gift for thanking was weird enough in itself. Why did he bring so much food?
"Woah..." was the reaction of Yuuichirou when they finished with the serving and looked at the table. Yuuya was sitting next to Jin all the time, not wanting to be separate.
"This is really... a lot, thank you very much." Kazuya bowed politely and the kids did so too. How can he return this to the singer ever?
“May I have overdone it, but I didn’t know which do you like. So I rather bought from each doughnut and from the coffee… but I bought cacaos for the kids.” Jin explained and grabbed the macchiato and picked a honey ring for himself starting to concentrate on eating. He was quite hungry by the time.
Yuuya seeing Jin feeling himself at home grinned and grabbed one of the same kind the man was eating and started to race who eats it faster. "Yummyy!" He mumbled and Kame shook his head. Where were the manners?
Yuuichirou and Kouji looked at Jin and bowed a little before they took one and said "Itadakimasu!" They couldn't ease up that much and didn't know what was the singer's intention. They didn't want their big brother to be in a weird situation.
"Itadakimasu." Kame took a doughnut named pon-de-ring into his hand and suppressed a sigh as he remembered the name of the food. He was not doing anything else just pondering all the time, really it suited him. He just seriously couldn't imagine what brought Jin to bring this much.
Akanishi put three more rings away, one choco, another honey and a nice pon-de-ring with cinnamon sugar on the top. By each piece he could listen to Yuuya who repeated every time that he has never eaten such delicious sweets before and that Jin must know which the best ones are. The cheerful yapping of the youngest made the ice break slowly and pulled the other kids into the conversation asking about their doughnuts, while Jin peeked at their brothers over his cup from time to time secretly.
“So what plan do you have for today, Yuuichirou-kun?” the singer pointed the question to the boy out of sudden.
Kame was still somewhat baffled by this all, he couldn't easy up as quickly as his brothers who looked very comfortable with Akanishi's presence. He on the other hand didn't know how to handle the sudden turn of events. He was so much into thinking he didn't hear the question of the singer. He tried to lose the tension and concentrate on the food in front of him which was indeed very delicious. He could get used to it, but he knew he shouldn't think of such things.
Before Yuuichirou could answer Jin, Yuuya exclaimed excitedly with a big smile. "We will go to visit the shrine~" Then he had an idea suddenly and looked at Jin with hopeful eyes, though he didn't dare to invite the singer. "And yours Jin?"
“Woah! That sound interesting, isn’t it? You are lucky Yuuya-kun,” the singer joined to the happy kid. Then looked up and imitated as if he was checking his schedule in his mind carefully. Not as if there was anything to check on. He made this day free in a hope to spend all with his little call-boy, but he didn’t want to share this piece of information with the under aged members of the family. “Well, I don’t have any plan yet.”
"Super!! Then you could come with us!" The child jumped up and looked with puppy eyes at the singer.
Kazuya almost choked on his food when he heard what his brother just offered Jin. He had to grab the cappuccino Akanishi brought to prevent himself from coughing to death. Yuuya was most likely not aware of their situation, he didn't understand anything at all. The shrine is a busy place at New Year, a big star like Akanishi Jin can't just go there with someone. That was what he was afraid of... his brothers to live themselves into a world they can never get. He was curious what a kind lie the older man will say to run away. Why did he come at all?
“Yeah, you say it. But only if your big brother won’t mind it,” Jin smiled at Kazuya innocently. He wouldn’t mind spending the time alone just the two of them, but like this Yuuya seemed to be the key to join the Kamenashis. He liked the brothers and an afternoon together with the guys was something he couldn’t just turn off. Like that he could see more about the Kamenashi Kazuya who was hiding deeply inside his shells and that was more alluring than any challenge he has faced before.
This day could be called the day of ultimate shock. Kazuya just remained speechless for the hundredth times yet again, looking at his brother who returned the gaze with those big pleading ones Kame knew so well. Not the behavior of the child was what surprised him, but Akanishi's. What did he expect him to say? To break the heart of his little brother himself? Nice.
"Oh well, you know Yuuya this is kind of... family event, it wouldn't be nice of us to drag Akanishi-san into it." He tried to say this in a steady voice but he just couldn't stay unaware of Jin's peeking at him and now this gaze... The world went crazy.
Kouji and Yuuichirou tried to study their oldest brother with not much success in it but they started to realize again something very weird was going on here. Their gaze was now at the singer, waiting for his reaction.
So that was a nice pass which contained a big NO between the lines, wasn’t it? But in real the singer wasn’t good with that Japanese two-faced thing ever. Maybe that was the fact why he had such a bad image, wasn’t it? Anyway he had some clue, more than other thought about him and he was able to put the pieces together. If Kazuya was feeling that uncomfortable with the brothers around, he can wait and find another occasion for spending time together. That did not mean he was giving up on him anyway.
“Hm, I wouldn’t mind, but I don’t want to disturb your little trip or something. So it’s fine for me if you would like to go by yourself,” Jin looked at the little boy next to him whose lips turned down in disappointment. “Maybe next time, ne Yuuya-kun.”
The child sat back disappointed and crossed his arms in front of his chest, saying nothing, just looking sad at Kazuya who was still digesting the answer.
Wouldn't mind?? Was he serious? What should he do now? Was this a catchball thing or what? What did the singer really expect from him? Deep inside he wanted Jin to go with them, but his rational side again was too afraid to get closer to the singer. Not that he was not closer than what his mind was telling him to be. Looking back at his little brother he mentally shook his head and gave up. Okay, if you want to play game Akanishi Jin, I will be your opponent. He was sure if he gives the green light and won't make excuses for the singer, Akanishi will come up with something why he can't accompany them.
"Oh well... okay, if you really have freetime and want to come and it can't cause you problems then...come with us." This was direct he knew and he already imagined the answer which will start with 'Actually I remembered I have meeting' or something like that.
“Un, fine,” Akanishi said smiling and winked at Yuuya, whose face brightened up like the sunrise lights the streets of the city. “I could take you to the shrine. Which one did you plan to go to?”
Kazuya didn't give voice to his surprise, though it was very hard to suppress a 'huh what??' The singer actually said yes and even more, he offered a ride.
"It's... uh not necessary, the shrine is here nearby, but... are you sure it is okay for you? I mean... what if someone recognizes you." Wasn't Jin afraid of the consequences? The young man thought back at the shitteller newspapers the singer was mentioned in a lot of times. This can cause a scandal for sure. Why is he risking himself?
"But I want to ride in the cool car!" Yuuya pouted and the two other brothers could just nod in agreement.
“Well, I don’t give a shit at those sharks. They can be everywhere anyway. But if we have luck they don’t expect me here. But I could put up my sunglasses and a cap or something… hm, yeah I think it will be fine. If they ask me I am the real one, I just tell them NO. Like that…” Jin said honestly not really taking things seriously. Who the hell cares about the paparazzi? He was not for sure. He has never done. Anyway he is not going to walk hand in hand with Kazuya. What is wrong about visiting the shrine with some ‘friends’ ?
Kame couldn't believe his ears. How can a famous star think this irresponsibly? With being caught by the media can cause headache to a lot of people around him who are working with him. His management, his family and can influence his work as well. As for himself, Kazuya could never think so lightly about things especially not if it involved others. Jin doesn't respect what he is doing for living this much? He understood the singer wanted freedom, but in Kame's opinion it was not the best way to obtain it. He also was as sure as the sun rises every morning that putting sunglasses and cap or hat won't mislead any of the fans. It wouldn't mislead him for sure, so it was a pretty lame try to hide. As the young man was thinking about what Jin said he will do, it had courage and kind of generosity in it, but it didn't change the fact it was totally irresponsible thinking and in a way not right.
***
The kids won after all and in half an hour later Kazuya found himself sitting in Akanishi Jin's super shiny black Lexus, next to the singer with his excited, jumping brothers on the backseat. They were young, innocent whose souls were not poisoned by the cruelty of the world yet; they couldn't understand what heavy situation they were in. Kame wanted to feel carefree too, he wanted his heart to be a free bird let out of its cage, but the more time passed the more he was desperate he can’t ever obtain that state.
It was such an incredibly awkward situation he couldn't handle. The root question danced in his mind with his doubt which he always returned to, asking himself and answering himself without voicing it out loud. Who was he to Akanishi Jin? No one. But is the answer he was thinking of equal to what the other thought? There must be a reason Jin was here. He was about to go crazy in the thoughts, so deep in them that he didn't even notice everybody was just looking at him.
"Kazuuu!! Really please, tell the way to Jin finally!" Yuuya pouted and pushed his little head further in between to the front seats.
"Ah...oh... yes, sorry." This was embarrassing. Kame promised himself he will behave normally, he tries to ignore Jin was there too and go on as planned as if there was only his family. How he wished his heart stopped beating crazily whenever he looked at the handsome star next to him.
"So.... go straight and turn left please." He cleared his throat starting to explain the road.
“Okay! We got permission; did everyone tie his seat-belt?” Jin asked joking, trying to make the keen atmosphere easier. The kids let out a happy whoop and the singer drove away with soundless engine. His mood was clear just like the sky after the heavy snow that thin cover of white was no enemy for the four-wheel at all. He hoped Kazu-chan can ease up as well. Right know the young man was sitting on the passenger seat as a rigid ice cube, what Jin hoped the seat heating of his fancy car could make melt quickly.
Great, Kame even forgot the seatbelt. He really should stop sinking in his own web of thoughts which was as complicated and wide, every spider would envy. He had to concentrate on the road and to act human like.
"Seatbelt okay Captain Jin!" Yuuya exclaimed into the ear of the singer happily, but Kame glared at him.
"Yuuya, please behave!" Something told Kame Akanishi won't be that eager to meet again after this day was over.
“Thank you Yuuya-kun. You are a great copilot,” Jin disguised his voice acting as a pro captain. The boys appreciated his joking with some giggling, but that earned them another frown from the eldest Kamenashi.
Why was that, their brother didn’t share the happy mood. Was Kazuya angry at him for some reason? Or the drinking had its aftereffect? Maybe that tenseness owed to the young man’s hangover. As much as he got to know the call-boy by now, he wouldn’t tell something like that. Well, last night they ended up making love, which was quite hot again, but this time Jin remembered he was not that rough. Un… right? In the contrary, Kazuya was the eager one this time… or just the alcohol made the younger man strip his inhibitions off. Either way, the singer was awfully happy about it and the irritating grin on his face couldn’t go away. He turned the wheel to the left and back, and then peeked at the beautiful man next to him.
“… aaand? What is the next?”
The more Kame wanted to loosen up the more he wasn't able to. He didn't want to act like an old angry man, but this was the protecting side of his system. If he didn't live himself into things, if he faces reality stubbornly and won't let the two worlds melting together too much he won't get that hurt at the end. It was coward to think like that right?
Looking at the mirror which reflected his brothers made him smile. Their eyes were shining as if they went out to see the world for the first time, the smiles shone more brilliantly as the piled snow on the side of the road. And this was the time when the young man realized that even for his brothers he had to be strong and stop thinking so selfishly. No matter why the singer was doing what he was doing, it gave his family something to be happy about and this must be rewarded. Not with a cold, messed up behavior but with honest gratefulness. He stole a quick glance at the singer and murmured a thank you with lips curled up.
"By the way, the next corner right and we are there."
“Oh, that’s close… really,” Jin’s surprise showed up suddenly, but it didn’t stay longer on his face, because he was busier with the parking. As they slowly passed by the entrance gate he noticed a fitting place for that, not far from it. He stopped the car, putting out the lights on the left side for a moment and turned the wheel with a bigger amount leading the car in the perfect angle, just like a pro. Well, he had some driving experience already and useful parking radar.
“So, we are here.”
"Perfect parking captain Jin!" Yuuya saluted with a big smile and looked out on the window. Sitting in a car like this, watching out of the window made him happy. He always just saw children watching out of a car’s window from the outside. Now he was in.
"Wooh~ The temple! Let's go let's go!" he was jumping on the seat. Kouji and Yuuichirou were more busy with watching every little detail of the car. They liked it very much but still couldn't grasp the fact they are really there. The life of them was always the same circle, with Kazuya giving them food, thet went to school then home. The only one they played together sometimes with was Hiro. How came the famous Akanishi Jin in the picture? Yuuichirou wasn't that blind and as for him it seemed that the star would do everything for his big brother but the reason was a mystery to him. With what could Kazuya make the singer come to them? Was it a really big Christmas present from their big brother? But how does he know Akanishi? This question popped into his mind for the 10th time that day.
Kazuya was even more nervous than before, despite the efforts to cool himself down, acting like a normal human. There were not many people, but that ten or fifteen will surely know who Jin was. In Japan everyone knew him. Not everyone liked him for sure because of the bad reputation, but knowing him, that everyone did Kame was sure. He took a glance at the driver and wondered why Jin risked himself so much. The tiny hope that he was actually interested in Kame was washed away immediately by the young man and he kept searching for answers, more and more difficult scenarios were playing "catch me" game in his mind.
Kazuya prayed for no one to care the idol was there, because he was certain of the fact even if Jin puts sunglasses and hat on, he will be recognized. He hoped in the miracle people won't think Akanishi is the real one. Why would a star be here with them?
“Yeah! Let’s go!” Jin said on an equal tone cheerful and with a big smile, just like the children, but as he looked at the young man next to him, who was still tense and lost in his thoughts, he decided to make something about it.
“Yuuya-kun, I have a baseball cap somewhere behind the backseats. Could you search it for me?”
“Yes, captain! Searching captain!” the little boy said seriously and threw himself at the top of his seat. The upper part of his body was swallowed by the car trunk while he was busy to find the needed accessory. That view was probably not the one Kazuya wanted to see from the driving mirror, but he couldn’t do anything against it. His little brother was too excited and fast to help to the singer.
“I have it!” he screamed with the cap in his hand and handed it to Jin immediately.
“Thank you,” the singer smiled again at the boy and ruffled his hair, before he took the cap on hiding his long locks under it as much it was possible at least. He put even his hoody of his coat on, which hid more from his handsome face. After he finished with the procedure, Jin turned to the side, where Kazu-chan was watching him in the meantime, almost frightening the young man in his staring with a cheeky smile.
“So, is it better like this?”
Kazuya realized two things. One: he needed a serious talk with his youngest brother about behavior with strangers. Two: no matter what Jin did, it was still painfully obvious it was Akanishi Jin, but he said nothing about it. At least the singer tried something. This just deepened Kame's sadnessand the realization they really shouldn't be here together. They are from different worlds and no matter why Jin was so eager to come with them, it will stay this way. Thinking again negatively made Kazuya almost sigh and be angry at himself. He should enjoy it while it lasts! He shouldn't be so grumpy. Learn to be carefree Kazuya! Come-on! He urged himself and gave out a little smile to the older man.
"I hope you know what you are doing." He said almost inaudibly and as he got out of the car his heart started to increase its beating pace.
The beep of the car and the double flashing of the blinker lights were the sings that Jin locked the car after everyone got out of it. He put the small digital key back into his pocket and joined the group at the pavement, where the Kamenashis waited him. Yuuya stole one of the singer’s hands immediately, but the other boys were also clinging to him closely. The atmosphere of intimacy snaked under his skin and kept his excitement. It was such a good feeling. Somehow, he felt, that he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right now. Well, except closer to the shy call-boy, but just watching Kazu-chan was also enjoyable like this.
“So, please show me the way. “
"Yuuya, don't be impolite." Kame just needed to scold the child and checked how his other brothers behaved. Good, they were too well-mannered to do something like Yuuya did. One part of him enjoyed to see this scene and how his brothers like Jin, but the other part just told him it will have a very bad ending and they shouldn't be here, deepening the bond if there was any. However, backing off now would be impossible and too late, so Kazuya started to get friends with the fact the man he loves more than anything shares the New Year ceremony with them.
How much he wanted to be like Yuuya, but he couldn't do the same, he would never forgive himself if he did. He stole a glance at Jin, but tore his eyes before they could stay on the star for more time than necessary. How much easier it would be if he could fight the feelings of love down!
"Let's go in the main gate, the shrine is there." Kazuya pointed ahead and as he started to go, leading the small group he observed the families standing in front of the temple clapping hands together, praying. One line was waiting to give their wishes and prayers to Gods; while the other line was waiting outside the small shop which sold lucky and protecting charm icons. In Japan it was tradition to buy them and people believed in their magical powers, carrying them everywhere as an ornament on the bag or strap on a mobile.
There were people who were doing "mikuji", fortune telling papers. You pull out a paper folded into small shape. It contains your future telling in three categories "Very lucky" "Lucky" "Bad". You pull one and when you open it, it has a number and some text on it, about what will happen with you in the future, what do you have to take care of and what you should do. The category is at the top of the paper. If someone pulls "Very lucky" and "Lucky" they keep it with themselves. If they pull "Bad" they fold it and tie it onto the tree of purification to make the bad luck go away.
Almost everyone was doing mikuji at New Year, very few people stayed unaffected.
You can also say your wish to the Gods by praying and throwing money in front of the statue of the God, but you also can wish in another form too. You buy a wooden plate, not really bigger size than your fist. It has the representative animal of the year painted on one side. The other side is empty. You have to write your wish and sign it, then tie it onto another holy tree and let it hang there. Like that the saint animal will know your prayers and the Gods will make them real.
The temple was smaller than Jin imagined. It was located on one of the hills and had a nice view at the city. Only local people visited the holy place, that’s why there were only a few people. Or it was the early hour? Probably, most of the families made their way there only after lunch. Jin thought they were lucky avoiding the mass. Not because of paparazzi, but a crowded place itself had a bad effects on the singer. He hated them the most… after paparazzi of course.
“If we throw our coins into there, than we can wish something,” Kouji explained to the singer. Not as if Jin didn’t know about it, but he was only a little child when he visited a temple the last time. The music industry sucked him in at very young age and like that he had to give up having free-time activities like this.
“Oh, I see. And does it matter how many coins we throw in?” Jin asked interested.
“No. Any coin is good for that,” Yuuchirou added joining the conversation.
“I have a five yen coin. Look! That brings luck,” Yuuya said excited holding the shiny change money in his small thumbs.
“Woah! I hope I have some five yens left somewhere. I’d like to have some luck too.”
Akanishi took his wallet and examined its content, but as always he had hardly any coins in it. He didn’t like to fill his wallet with those small things and rather left them at the cashier or the staff. He had to ask for excuse and joined the line at the small shop to have some change money. He bought four small wooden tables for the Kamenashis and asked for five yens in exchange. When he stepped back to the boys, who waited out of the line patiently with Kazuya, he gave them the gifts.
“Here are the tables for your wishes. I had to buy something anyway to get exchange, so please have them. "
Kame looked at the singer with protest. "Oh no no, you shouldn't have spent money on us!" While saying this, the boys were already busy taking the plates from the singer with shiny eyes. They always got lucky charms from Kazuya every year, but they never did the traditional plate thing, so they were excited about trying it.
"Don't you wish for something too Jin? Wish for something too and put it next to mine~" Yuuya said ignoring his big brother and continued watching Akanishi with huge pleading eyes,
Kazuya gave up and gave in at the same time. Let it be a special New Year day, a memorable one for his brothers, the last one, but after it, before they could get used to things like these, he will have a serious talk with the singer. He was happy and sad at the same time. Melancholy surrounded him and weighted his heart. As he observed Jin with the three children and himself standing next to them, they looked like a family. He studied Akanishi's behavior since the very first time he saw him on that fateful day on the screen, but he could swear he hasn't ever seen the man being so carefree. Now the singer seemed to like where he was, being cheerful. It was no acting. The Akanishi Jin who was on the screen at that time, who seemed so lonely and the something, that squeezed Kame's heart in sorrow vanished. This Jin now looked like as if he had everything he needed in life. It was surely not because of them though, they did nothing. But he felt a little jealous. How he wished it was him, how he yearned for it, but he didn't even dare to hope in such a thing.
“I want you to have a big luck, and as me I haven’t done this for long. So please let me enjoy it, okay?” Jin showed his puppy eyes at the young man, before he turned to the excited Yuuya.
“Oh, of course I would wish something. Well, if you’d make some place for me on your board… “
“Yes! Write on my table, Jin!” Yuuya screamed even more excited earning a killing look from his eldest brother.
“You can write onto mine too,” both Kouji and Yuuchirou said in the same time surprising the singer. The two boys got hard blush on their cheeks and started to push each other a few times, and then all of them laughed on the keen situation finally.
“Alright! I will write a wish on each board, so I will get the most luck in the end having a lot of wishes, right?” Jin laughed again and made the three boys satisfied with his answer.
Kazuya didn't even think when it slipped out of his mouth "Thank you and you can write on mine too." Only when he finished the sentence it sank in him how it did not just sound polite, but it had much more in it. The stares of his brothers who suddenly stopped giggling and the three of them looked at him shocked.
The young man blushed a little and looked away embarrassed, murmuring "But uhh, I think you already have enough place so it is okay." He didn't dare to look the singer into the eye and his heart couldn't stop beating fast as he was thinking about what the wish of the singer will be. Or to be more exact, wishes.
Of course Jin was the only one who was surprised in another way. He was happier about it and the grin on his face widened almost into a creepy one. Oh, no! He won’t back off, no way.
“I would want to use up all my four wishes, thank Kazu-chan. But first we are the next to wish here, I think,” the singer informed the small group.
They have totally forgotten about the line and that they have been standing in it waiting for entering the holy temple only for having one wish and of course the coins. The coins were important too. Jin gave some to the boys too. They stepped in front of the shrine - normal people were allowed only to step in front of the door not further in - and clapped their hands before making their wishes. Jin wished to have more time with Kazu-chan and that the young man would ease up a little already. After they clapped their hands again the clinging sound of the five yens they have thrown into the wooden holder was the last sound as the shining coins disappeared. Jin had a fistful of them and like a child he hoped at least the half of it will take him some luck in the future.
It was somewhat heartwarming to watch Jin act like a child. Kazuya suppressed a chuckle as his mood lightened too. Watching how the kids laughed seeing Akanishi's act and how the singer himself had shining eyes that made Kame soften and almost melting on the spot. The older man made his life special and gave him nice days. He really should throw away the curtain of selfishness and cowardliness which was invisibly wrapped around him, strangling him and rather working on making Jin's days as good as the other was making theirs. He smiled and threw five yen too, wishing it to last very long. To be able to be together with Jin, for them to be like a family. He knew it won't ever happen, but it was good for him now to sink into delusion. Just for a little while.
"Oh, I see you had a lot of wish." He said jokingly, turning to Jin. His smile was not tense anymore, but warm and grateful. "You go for sure ne."
“Of course!” the singer winked at the beautiful man whose mood eased up already. As for him, it seemed that his five yens bore interest in such a short time. If he had knew about that, he would have exchanged a big amount of money into five yens and would have made a long line of wishes most of them according to the young man.
The brothers noticed the change in Kazuya's behavior and were even more cheerful. At last their old brother eased up and the atmosphere became good and calm.
"And now, let's write our wishes. Who will be the first?"
"Me! Me!" Yuuya jumped up with both of his hand raised as if he wanted to touch the sky. His cheeks were a little red from the chilly weather, but it didn't seem to bother him because even his eyes were smiling. He grabbed one plate and a pen from Kazuya quickly and ran to the bench where he could write. His writing was a little clumsy with lots of hiragana and he just wrote the tiny letters without space and drew five little stickmen next to the sentences "I wish to be together forever with my family and Jin."
"Finished~~~" He exclaimed and handed it excitedly to the singer, explaining. "The drawings are the five of us! And look, look! I left a looooot of free space for your wish!" And indeed, the two-third of the plate was still empty.
Jin took the small board with a big smile. He has never felt himself so excited, not even on his first fan-event when he gave tons of autographs in a row. Reading the boy’s wish it made his heart jump in a good way. He felt himself so happy after such a long time. No stress, no press, no running to interview or running from fans. He hasn’t felt such peace for ages.
Holding the small wooden table in his hand he thought about a lot of things what he could wish for, but looking into the shining eyes of Yuuya in front of him he wrote only those few words on it: I wish Yuuya-kun’s wish to become true. With the sing of his, he gave the wooden board back to the excited boy and put his finger in front of his own lips, showing that this should be their own secret.
Yuuya saluted with a serious nod and hugged the wooden plate onto his small chest securely for no one to be able to read. He smiled at Jin as wide as never before and he already felt Jin as a member of the family, like a new brother or father. How he wished his oldest brother would come to love Jin and never letting him go out of the house.
He didn't know that Kazuya already more than loved the singer and his pounding heart couldn't still down. The call-boy was dying to know what was written on the wooden plate which was held so precisely by the little hands of Yuuya. The side which was turned to the outside had a tiger painted on it. The animal was sitting in a peaceful manner as if it was pleased with its life. The year of the tiger... In every 12 years the same animal took the throne. 24 years before it was the same year, he was born in it. They always say, if your year comes upon you, the animal will guard you and provide luck and good things during the year, because you were born under its protection from the first start.
His year... what will it be like? Will it really be the luckiest of all?
He took the pen from Akanishi who has finished to write on all of the three brothers of his and for a fleeting second he looked at the handsome face of the man he yearned for so much. If he wanted to be honest he would have written "I wish for Jin to be forever with me" but of course he couldn't write it. He was afraid if he has done that and Akanishi would have seen it everything would be over. He couldn't be so childish and obvious; the secret should be safe with him.
"I wish everything to turn out to be good and to have a peaceful year. Please protect the ones who are important to me and let their wish come true too."
With his name written onto it, he looked at Jin in the eye, handing both the plate and the pen to him.
Yuuichirou watched the scene with estimating eyes. Something was with his brother and Akanishi, it was in the air, it was in their eyes when they looked at each other and the teenager suppressed the urge to say something.
Jin’s eyes were glued to the handsome face while waiting for Kazu-chan to finish writing. What did he write? Does it have something about him? Probably not. The young man was too shy to do something like that. When he reached out and took the board into his hand he had to chuckle how right he was. As for him, he spent three wishes to the kids, which were all about get good friends, stay with them and go together for a trip and such unselfish things. If it went to Kazuya he couldn’t fight the urge to give in to the selfish side of his and write something related to the beautiful boy he has found on the hot-line.
Jin took the pen and wrote his wish in English on the wooden object: I wish to feel deep love and be loved by the one who means a lot to me. After he finished it he handed it back to the young man more satisfied. The words somehow came into his mind and maybe they were cheesy, but right know he felt that he wanted more from Kazu-chan than a few nice fuck. Spending time together, just like this morning washed all of his stress away like a big typhoon.
Kame looked dumbfounded at the plate and couldn't really hide his mixed feelings of curiosity, jealousy and a light disappointment. He didn't understand English but one word he did: love. Jin wished for love most likely. But it was long so maybe he didn't just wish for it, but had it already and wanted to keep it as long as he can. Yes, Akanishi indeed looked happy so apparently he found someone he could settle down with. Kame wondered if his feelings were readable by the idol and that's why he didn't want to hurt him by showing him he had no chance. How nice it was from Jin not to write it in Japanese to crash Kame's heart more. He obviously didn't want the young man to understand, but what Kame understood from it was enough. He tried to pretend he was cheerful though.
"Oh, you like English, don't you?" he just hoped his voice didn't waver from jealousy. Vanish feelings, please vanish!
"What did you write on Kazu's plate?" Yuuya asked curiously.
“Yeah, something important,” Jin said without breaking the eye contact, which he had with Kazu-chan for a few minutes. But then the younger man turned away, checking around and he had to face the little boy who tugged on his hand excitedly.
“You don’t tell your wish, Yuuya-kun, because it won’t come true,” he said with a playful wink.
After they hang the plates next to each other Yuuya looked at Jin and then his brother pondering, he wanted to make the atmosphere lighter desperately. "Come on, let's do mikuji too!" The youngest Kamenashi insisted and took Akanishi's hand with one of his hands and Kazuya's with the other, pulling them with him.
There were not so many people in the line, so it took them just a few minutes until they were all standing with folded mikuji papers in their hand, curious of what was written in it.
They agreed in an order and of course Yuuya started to unfold with his little heart beating faster and faster in every second till he jumped up in happiness. "Big Luck!! Yaay! I pulled out big luck!!"
It was indeed something to be happy about, because it was as less from it as from "Bad".
"You are the next Jin!" Kouji said smiling.
The singer took the tiny paper with almost shaking hands. He was so excited he couldn’t hide it in the moment. When the kanji of the luck appeared he let out the air, which he didn’t notice he was holding. He ran the small text through with shining eyes and read out loud the main parts.
“It says: you will be busy in the first part of the year, and there will be some disturbing things you don’t expect, but… if you keep up and work hard you can win your reward, which is bigger than you think. Hmm… that’s not bad,” he said with a faint disappointment in his voice. This king of fortune telling was definitely not what he will use to lead his life, but it was good to know he won’t have bad luck at least.
Yuuchiro and Kouji had the same as Jin, luck and the last was Kazuya's. He looked at the paper he was holding in his hand and took a deep breath. He started to fold it and as he was finished doing so his hands froze and his expression showed surprise in a wrong way. The kanji of "Bad" was written onto the paper which was very rare to pull.
"Something bad will happen in the beginning of the year and you have to face a lot of obstacles. Make yourself strong, after you fought your fight everything will be as it means to be, good things will knock on your door, welcome them with open arms." He read, but he couldn't hide his anxiety. This was a bad omen, right?
"Wait here!" Yuuichirou started to run into the direction of the shop and his two brothers soon rushed after him, leaving Kazuya and Jin alone. Not for long time, because soon they were back, holding a protecting charm out for Kame to take.
"We used all our savings to buy you this, don't worry good brother, we won't let anything bad happen to you, right Jin?" Yuuichirou eyed the man knowingly as Yuuya put the little charm into the hand of his eldest brother. The unpleasant feeling in Kazuya vanished all at once and he looked at the three family members in a touched way. He had the best brothers on the world, he was sure about that.
"Thank you so much!"
“I think nothing can happen to Kazuya as long as he has such a good brothers, right?” Jin said eyeing the scene with deep emotions inside his heart. That was the first time he saw something like this, some poor kindness and strong bond. His family was surely different from Kazuya’s. Just looking them was so heartwarming that he wanted to pull all of them into a big bear hug, which he was sure the smallest member would enjoy the most.
“Akanishi??? Is that you? Oh, my, oh, my!” The small group turned into the direction where the mincing voice of a visibly rich woman came from. Their witness knew Jin that was sure, especially when the long haired beautiful woman in gorgeous fur headed towards them, pushing her huge sunglasses further up having a better view at the singer. The gap between them lessened by every long step she had, that made a loud knock on the flat stones under her Caligari high-heels. By the time she approached the surprised group, she stepped in front of Jin in such closeness that she was particularly leaning against the singer, then kissed him on the cheeks with her red lips and giggled on her unnaturally high voice, which could drive a bunch of black crows away, like really big and dangerous crows.
“Jin! Happy New Year! I didn’t know you will be here.”
When Kazuya thought he managed to overstep the fact of the bad luck mikuji the ice crashed on him in the form of a woman acting so familiar to Jin. His mood sank deeper than any oceans and he just wanted to scream angrily but not at the woman, at Akanishi. Most probably this was the "love" he was writing and this was why he insisted on coming with them, because he knew this woman will be here. Was it true Jin has never been at this place? It didn't really look like that by judging what the woman said. Girlfriend, right? He had really hard time not to break out in fury, the hardest of all was to stay calm on the surface, as if nothing had happened inside him while in reality storm rose inside his body, which was wild, thundering and cold. It was his fault anyway, he didn't listen to his common sense when it said NOT TO interfere with Akanishi Jin and now, bang. Jealousy rose in him like a volcano and before he was about to erupt he turned to his brothers and said. His voice was colder than he wanted it to be.
"Come, it is time to go home. Thank Akanishi-san for speaking with us."
The three children didn't know what to do as they were just standing there, looking at the woman then at their brother. Yuuichirou was now more than sure that Kazuya was feeling something more for the singer than he admits and Yuuya just pouted at the sudden intruder, showing how he doesn't like the girl.
Jin's panic rose as he watched Kazu-chan was leaving with the kids. He would have kicked the woman rather, but the most he could do was push her body further way yelling after them.
“WAIT! Please wait me at the car, Kazuya!” Akanishi’s voice was straight and allowed of no reply. He took the car key out of his pocket and threw into the hands of the youngest Kamenashi giving his last command as Captain Akanishi.
