Today was the day to remove the bicycle from it's winter storage. Today was the day to leave the roads behind, and go in search of the last snow. It was found half way between The lakes and White Cloud, The Manistee National forest provided the adventure, the wrong turns and the snow. It also provided a new resource for Winter Green berries and a few other herbs I don't have here in any abundance that makes an attempt at gathering worth the effort. A story about family is unfurling back at home, but can not be expounded upon until the time is correct.
Strange noises from the woods, strange foot prints in the snow near the marshes on the way back from the vast loop that I had made, foot prints that were not there when I passed the first time only a matter if five minutes before. Strange feeling of being followed almost all the way to the forest's boundaries. I will not visit that place alone again. I realized today I do not care for the the enterprise of exploring fens.
