I mean, REALLY hot.  So hot when you put your foot down, you can feel the heat radiating through your shoes.

Thackery, unfortunately, knows all too well how hot it is, by him picking up his feet with an "ow! ow! Ow!" each time he sets his paws down on the sidewalk.  He makes a flying leap towards the grass, which just seems

Enter Ivan Vorpatril, noble rescuer of cats. He's dragging his feet a little -- this heat would make anyone slow down, even his hyperactive cousin Miles. When he notices the black form under a tree, he goes to investigate and crouches down beside the cat. He offers a hand to sniff.

**Thackery barley lifts his head, sniffs his hand, and lets out a tiny mewl towards him**

Is the cat hurt? Or sick? Ivan doesn't see any blood. Ivan scoops up the cat and looks him over for obvious injuries, but doesn't see any. He settles the cat more comfortably in his arms. "Let's go somewhere cooler."

"Meeooow!" Thackery mewled at the sound of cooler air, as he continued to pant in the hot hot heat, glancing up at him.

True to his word, Ivan carries the cat to his (climate-controlled) building. He gives a sigh of relief as he enters the lobby. "That's much better, isn't it?" He presses the button to call the lift.

"Meoow..." Thackery lets out a tired mewl, the heat radiating in his fur starting to cool. Helloooo, cool air!

And up to Ivan's apartment, which is also nicely cool. Ivan carefully set down the cat on the cool tiles of the kitchen floor. He poured some water into a bowl and put it where the cat could reach it easily. Now what did he have that a cat could eat? He peered into the refrigerator but was distracted by seeing a carton of apple juice, which reminded him that he was thirsty also. He poured juice into a glass and gulped it down.

**Thackery starts to mew slight, getting up on shaky legs to slowly lap at the water, but his legs soon gave out and he landed face-first in the bowl...well, at least he's awake now**

"Hey! We don't want you drowning." Ivan kneels, grabs the cat by the scruff of the neck, and pulls his head out of the water. "You have all the self-preservation instinct of some Vor lords I know." Ivan considers this for a moment. "Maybe I should call you Miles."

I don't know what the hotel was planning, but that heat was just unbearable.

"No problem. Hey, are you a cat cat? Or are you a cat who's really a human? That happened to,um, some people I know a couple months ago."

Thackery's ears perked the moment he said "cat who's a human".

"Well, yes, I was a human at one point..." He said, twitching his ears. "...why do you ask?"
