[The door to the TARDIS creaks open as the Doctor steps out, taking a deep breath]
Ancient Rome! [it’s a triumphant statement, said proudly as he turns to look at his companion, a wide grin on his face.
...except two things are wrong. His companion isn’t there…. And this isn’t where he’s supposed to be. Spinning back to face the empty street] …

He peers into the open doorway. And then he just stares.]

[cutting off as he notices Fakir, his expression surprised] Well, hullo! Where did you come from?

I might ask you the same. [He sheathes his sword and steps warily into the room.]

I don't suppose you've seen her? [holding up a hand] A woman about yay-high, firy hair and a brilliant set of lungs on her? She'd be rather hard to miss, I'd think, though I appear to be doing exactly that.

And then he sees the big strange animal that kinda reminds him of a monkey, going into a big blue object. What is that? Some kind of big rock, maybe?
Simba's coming over to check that out! Because it's oh so new to the lion prince's eyes.]

And, a few minutes later, the unusual animal is back, stepping out into the street with a frown as he shuts the door behind him.
...and stops as he sees Simba] Well, hullo! You seem a bit out of place. [crouching down] Can't say the last time I've seen a lion cub on a city street.
Well, actually, I can, but that involved an Anethan and a fire extinguisher and I don't imagine that has anything to do with right now.

..."City street"? What's that?
And what kind of monkey are you? [Trying to look a little bit past him] Where's your tail? And what's in that blue rock thing? [Although it doesn't really smell like a rock...]
[Gosh sooo many questions! Everything that's said and everything he sees is pretty much nothing like the African Savannah.]

A city street is where we're at, I'm the Doctor, and that blue rock is actually my TARDIS. A ship, though you probably don't know what that is. Let's see. Mmm... It's something that carries me from place to place. Let's me get places I couldn't normally get to. Like- well, really I'm not sure what a lion would ride in so I'll get back to that.
Right.
Who might you be, then?

[wait a minute...
a pause as he glances up from the controls to see the boy there] Don't usually have unexpected visitors, though. Well, maybe one or two every now and again. Well...

*He smiles a bit.* Figured you didn't just come from Luceti...I'm Gaignun Kukai Jr., I knew I guess you could call it another version of you or something like that. This' the TARDIS, right?

Ah, no. I'm afraid I can't say I've been there. At least not yet. But it appears we've met! Gaignun Kukai Jr. A rather impressive name. Brilliant! I apologize if I'm not quite familiar. Time's a bit of an issue and I tend to get it a bit out of order now and again, but never mind. I'm guessing you already know that, if you know what she is. [a fond pat to the console]

Hello! What are you doing in there?

[Calling over his shoulder without actually turning around] Looking for my companion. I appear to have lost her. Troubling thing, that.
[whirling around with a smile, looking decidedly untroubled as he fixes his attention on the girl] And it appears I've gone and left the door open. Careless of me, but I was in a bit of a rush. Never mind that. Hullo!

I can see that! Um, where did you see your companion last?

He was thinking about morphing the wolf, so he could get some distance in finding a way out of this city. Jake had to get out of his place. His friends needed him. And no doubt his family were worried sick.
And, yeah, there was the whole human race at stake too. However, that was along the bottom of his list of concerns. Can't save the world if the only Yeerk resistance force around are dead.
So, Jake's about to find someplace where no one would be watching him, someplace private to strip down to his tight t-shirt and bike shorts outfit--when he noticed the blue police box.
A police box? Never in his life did Jake expect to see one of those. Weren't those things, like, old?
He shakes his head. Again; this damned city doesn't make much sense. It'd be a breath of fresh air to get back to much less surreal world he knows.
Well, he'll be moving on now, about to walk past the police box.]
