That was strange. Only a few moments ago, it had been high noon in the city and the sky pirate was feeling rather pleased that his plan for the day had gone off without a hitch. However as he made his way back home, something seemed to be going rather unpleasantly awry. First the sun darkened, as if a cloud passed over it. There were a few clouds ( Read more... )

Emily sat around the house, not really noticing the passage of time. It was nice to be able to shut out the harsh light with the curtains, and soon it gave her no pain at all... In fact, it was really dark. Carefully, she lifted the curtains to find that it was nighttime. Emily didn't really think too much about it, she had lost large chunks of time before.

Oddly enough, the dark seemed to ease her constant worry. As if she belonged there. She couldn't see every detail, but her eyes were used to darkness, so basic shapes were enough. Emily tried not to let the thought that monsters are usually at home in the dark ruin the somewhat better mood it put her in.

Hearing Cou enter, she called out. "O-over here."

That was a relief, he'd found the right house after all. Despite being barely able to see anything at all, Cou was quite happy to have found his way home in all of this mess. Still quieting his voice for his friend, he made his way over to her and slung the bag off his shoulder.

"Man, have ya seen it out there? It's almost pitch black out. And the fog..." He partly whispered as he set his glow stick aside, doing his best to keep the light from getting too bright around Emily.

Strangely however, he found that in her company, he was in surprisingly good spirits.

"Yeah." She squinted a little at the new source of light. Emily held one giant hand up to shield her eyes, which cast strange shadows behind her. There was something slightly different when she talked, almost like she was a fraction more relaxed, but it was a little odd. "Isn't it nice?"

Honestly, he was loathe to admit that he wasn't the most comfortable in the world with being in such enveloping darkness. Especially when he considered just how unnatural it was; from the speed of its onset to the way it almost seemed to devour any light produced. The young man couldn't be blamed for almost feeling threatened by it.

Still, having Emily nearby was something he found very relaxing. She might be afraid that she could lose her self-control at any time, but Cou believed in the part of her that was still human. As long as that was there, he trusted her. Which actually reminded him of why he'd left the house in the first place earlier in the day.

Brushing past anything said, he smiled a little in the darkness, "Hey Em. I picked something up for ya while I was out earlier."

[Sorry, wrong house]

Oui? Who's there?

[He blinked a little and raised his glow stick to get a better look at his surroundings. However that voice seemed strangely familiar to him.]

Francis?

[Cou paused a moment. He'd taken quite a beating that night he arrived and he felt at least a little bad that he might not remember the name his savior of the evening's name before they went their separate ways.]

Petit Coucou! [yes, that was his nickname for him]

[Stumbles over until he finds the glowing stick, and there you have yourself a big hug]

I'm so glad you're alright!

[He forgot about Francis' nickname for him and finds the hug somewhat awkward, but at least seems to appreciate having found a familiar face]

Thanks. It's good that yer doin' okay too...

You have any idea why it's dark like this all of the sudden?

Bang bang bang! Fucking darkness. Cagalli is not staying outside in this, tough-girl-with-a-gun or not. Especially after the monster event a few weeks ago. "Anyone home? Can I come in?!"

That was bad. If Cou had found his own house by accident, a ruckus like that would not bode well at all for him, his guest or whoever was at the door. Stumbling around in the dark, it took him a few seconds to orient enough to find the door. He quickly twisted the knob and pulled the door open, doing his best to keep as quiet as he did so.

And there was Cagalli on the other side of the door. Considering how she was last time they'd crossed paths, he thought she was acting a little strange. But then he considered that perhaps she was just freaking out in the darkness. The glow stick in his hand cast enough light that he was certain she could see his features enough to recognize him.

"Shh!" was the only thing he said as he reached out with his free hand to try and grab her shoulder. If he was lucky and she didn't try to run out on him or otherwise pull free of his attempt to drag her inside, he would bring her in, close the door and fortune-willing, she would get the idea to at least keep her voice down while he explained why he was ( ... )

Emily jumped when the loud knocking suddenly came out of nowhere. Somehow backing into a corner without tripping, she faced the door and growled, low and quiet. She was not in the mood for loud noises.

Thank god someone was home and she wouldn't have to break in but... oh man. Cou. She'd met him while that... that event was effecting her. How could you get more awkward? She'd have to explain, and he'd practically have to get to know her all over again.

She caught both that Cou wanted her to be quiet and the low growling from across the room. Maybe it had something to do with Jenova's gift, but her hearing seemed to be as good as any Coordinator right now. "What is it Cou?" she whispered softly.

Well, it's not the right house, but it's not empty, either; though he might not immediately realize the inhabitants are there. On the loveseat lay two little dolls, each one apparently having claimed a cushion to themselves. A little skull helmet and spear that should be somewhat familiar to Cou is beside the paler, smaller doll; at his small sound, she picks up her head and reaches over to nudge the other's shoulder without getting up just yet. Just in case the "intruder" hasn't seen them yet.

9 stirs, mumbling something to himself. He moves without thinking, sitting upright and looking around. "Huh...?" He peers out but doesn't see anything in the darkness.

As he held up the glow stick, the air pirate did his best to get a look at his surroundings. While it wasn't his house, the design looked at least somewhat similar. After giving the room a cursory study in the dim light source he carried, he found his gaze hovering on the love seat. The objects on him wouldn't normally be of any concern, but it just so happened that he could have swore that one of the dolls on it moved. While the rational part of his mind scoffed and called it a trick of shadows in poor lighting, some part of him wasn't entirely willing to just accept that ( ... )

7--? And then she recognized the voice. She pushed herself to a sitting position to blink at him in the dark.

"-- Cou...?"
