Batman had ran. He'd ran so they would chase him, so that someone else could be the hero. He wanted his friend to be the one that people would admire, look up to, preserve the memory of the man he used to be instead of the man that he had become. So he had willingly sacrificed everything for Harvey's sake. He was no longer Gotham's hero ( Read more... )

Flash would've recognized that that pointy-eared, brooding shadow anywhere! He appeared in front of the other in the blink of an eye.

"Bats!"

"... What's with the new suit?" Or maybe he spoke to soon; for some reason he couldn't explain he got the feeling that this wasn't the Batman he knew.

That had certainly got his attention. Batman quickly put space between them, wondering where the hell the other man had even come from. If he'd been in any other mood, he probably would have instantly grabbed the other and incapacitated him, but right now, he was too worn out to start a fight until he knew that he had to.

And he knew his name, or at least... somewhat.

"Who are you?" No nice introductions, but that was usually too much to expect from him in any mood. He didn't know where he was, and now he had run into someone he'd never met before who knew who he was. It was a little much to handle.

No, this definitely wasn't his Bats, but that wasn't important right now as he had noticed the other's wounds.

Flash couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the other's voice, it was so gruff, perhaps it was due to the pain he was in?

"You're hurt, aren't you? Relax, I'm one of the good guys." He crouched down to inspect Batman closer. "You could say we know each other, well, I know you, I mean --" He sighed "Man, alternate dimensions are so complicated..."

"Hurt?"

Batman almost smiled, putting his hand up to the place where Harvey had shot him. Not to mention the fact he'd fallen that distance, and been beaten with a lead pipe by the Joker earlier. Just more to add onto the ever growing list of injuries. It must have been the adrenaline, keeping him going until he was far enough away.

He turned and pressed his back against the wall, putting a bit more distance between them. In a way, he knew they were similar, but he was still reluctant to trust anyone or let them close to him. He needed to get himself calm, figure out what he was doing next, and probably get that bullet out of his body before he bled everywhere.

"Alternate dimensions?" So it wasn't just another town? Either that, or the man just happened to escape from Arkham.

"We're in an alternate dimension - a Nexus - as in we're not in Gothom anymore, Toto.

"I'll explain it more to you later, but right now we gotta get you to a hospital, okay?" He said, going to pull the other's arm over his shoulder and help him stand.

Right. Okay. He could deal with what the other was saying, at least a little bit, for now, because he knew it was more important to get his injuries taken care of. Passing out on the street of an unfamiliar city didn't seem like the best idea.

"I can't go to a hospital." Batman figured the other knew immediately what he mean. Going to a hospital meant risking his identity. "I can get it out and stitch it up myself."

"But what about anaesthetic?" Although really, he didn't doubt Bats was crazy enough to take a bullet out without pain killers.

Batman just stared blankly at him. Sure, he used painkillers whenever he had them on hand, but if he didn't have anything available, then that would be the way things were. There were always alternatives.

"You said you knew me." Batman kept his arm on the other's shoulder, feeling a bit awkward about his current placement (he wasn't used to anyone helping him, after all). "Does that mean you know who I am?"

"Yeah, I do." Flash replied, helping the other into the back of nearby building, a clothing store; it wasn't a hospital but at least it was warm inside and with all the blood Bruce lost and the rain, the last thing he needed was to get hypothermia.

He set the other down on a chair. "I can get the bullet out, a lot faster than you could, but it's still gonna hurt like hell. I just need you to take off your -- armour."

"Is breaking into buildings a habit of yours?" Batman was finally starting to realize how different this place was, but any questions he had would have to wait until later. His body wasn't cooperating with him as well as he would have liked. If he would have taken care of the wound earlier, he would be fine, but he'd been ignoring it for too long and had lost too much blood.

He leaned back in the chair, still seeming reluctant to trust the other, but he knew he didn't have much of a choice.

"Tell me. Before I do." He wanted to make sure that the other really knew who he was. Stubborn even in the worst of circumstances, it seemed.

It's not breaking in if it's open, duh! Besides, this is super hero business." Flash replied childishly, but to him, Batman was being an even bigger child, a very spoilt one.

"You're Bruce Wayne, billionaire playboy - now take it off." He crossed his arms, waiting.

Batman just stared, again, which seemed to be his usual response to anything that this man did. His sense of humor wasn't around at the moment, clearly.

"Fair enough." Looking around, he made sure there was no one else around before removing his mask, tossing it onto the floor. He never seemed to care much for taking care of his outfit when he was in a mood like this. Then he worked on the gauntlets, then the gloves, tossing them aside as well.

Working to get the armor off, he slid it onto the floor and then undid the rest of his shirt, flinching at the pain that was finally starting to set in. His body was covered in horrible scars from all the battles he'd been in. It was a wonder his lady friends didn't interrogate him about it, but there were always ways around that. He still had stitches on a large cut on the top of his left arm.

The wound wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it was still surprising that Bruce was able to go for so long without taking care of it.

Getting a look at the guy without his mask, Flash knew without a doubt that this guy was not his Batman.

He leaned forward once the other had opened his shirt. "You may not be my Bats, but you sure do scar like him... anyway, I'm going to make this as quick as possible."

And just as soon as he finished saying that, faster than Bruce could blink, he reached inside the gunshot wound, pulling out the bullet, then with his other hand, he vibrated his fingers so fast that the air around them became white hot; he pressed them against the wound, cauterizing it.

"I told you I di--" Bruce's voice was back to its normal tone, though he was cut off as soon as the other touched him, putting his hand down to grip the side of the chair that he was sitting on. He held onto it as tightly as he could, more out of surprise than anything, feeling the wood crack a bit under his hand.

It had all happened too fast for him to realize what had happened, but he looked down to realize that his wound was no longer bleeding. He took a few deep breaths, trying to resist the urge to close his eyes. He really didn't want to pass out...

"...thanks..."

Flash removed his fingers, blowing on them like a cowboy would blow onto his pistol. "Anytime, partner."

He then stood up, walking around the back room, searching through clothe racks and picking up garments here an there. "I guess I should explain to you more about this place. From what I've learnt, this place his a Nexus where people from all sorts different dimensions are brought. Everything here is free, and every week, something out of the ordinary happens, like this killer rain for example.

"That pretty much sums it up" He handed the other some clothes. "You need to get changed into something dry. When you feel up to moving, I'll take you somewhere nearby where you can rest."
