Well I haven't posted on my LJ since November 2008, so heeeeeeeeey everybody. Anyways, I've been frequenting LJ again because it's the place to post Doctor Who reactions without cluttering up you normal blogs (bremelvin.com). These are both prety late, but I said I would post my reaction so her we go, starting with:
Amy's Choice
- Awkward pause when the Doctor keeps looking at Amypreggers. Lawl. She keeps saying that's she pregnant (about 4 times, and then he still asks her if she is).
- They go back into the house but end up outside. Perfect dreamland vibe.
- For some reason I wrote Turn Left in my notes...
- They wake up again in Rory's world and the Doctor is wearing blue suspenders and bowtie, where in his world they are red. Nice touch. And of course, the Doctor notices it straight away.
- Doctor tells everyone to looks around at all the details. Rory stares cross-eye at wrench, <3
- The Doctor pulls a random ball out of his pockets, and I start to wonder what else is in those pockets.
- Strange that the Doctor wouldn't have a new companion after 5 years, but, of course this dream world has a ton of fake memories that all parties would have. I wonder if they keep those memories after they wake up at the end. Probably not, it would still feel like elements of a dream.
- What is the baby is deadly danger dundunduuuuuuuuun.
- Poor Rory doesn't get a swing.
- Another Elizabeth the First reference. Is she going to pop out of Pandorica as well? Moffat is definitely building towards that episode.
- Random biker is a red shirt.
- Amy alone once again and losing her cool (haha see what I did there).
- The Doctor saving all the fake dream people in the van <333
- Someone says "Amy's Choice" ... Me: "Hey, that's the name of the episode."
- Notes say: The dreamlord sounds like a former companion, but he's taking his feelings out more on Amy than everyone else... I'm mad at my past self for not figuring it out sooner.
- I really love this whole beating on old people thing, it's very Shaun of the Dead.
- When the power comes back on in the Tardis, but when it's still covered in ice, it looks just like the classic Tardis. I may or may not have made an nostalgic gasp.
- So Dobbykins equals Valayard?
- Rory kissed her. Not the other way around. Yay! And they were finally forced to talk to each other, more yay.

The Hungry Earth
- And now mofat is making us scared of dirt. First children, then monsters under the bed, then statues, now dirt. He sort of brilliant in this fashion.
- Notes read: "so cool, future us waving" I appear to have referred to Rory and Amy as "us" ...
- Notes read "i dress for real" ... yeah no idea until ProfessorSporks' post that she was saying "Rio" not "real."
- And he's tasting things again, but not nearly as smoothly as 10. That grass was all over the place, and 11's tricky taste buds did not enjoy.
- This little kid is so the doctor. I was hoping Rory would go all Ian Chesterton, but instead she remained in companion mode, and let this kid take the stage.
- "I'm making perfect senese, your justnot keeping up" excellent delivery.
- "Silence, absolute silence" STOP SAYING THAT BECAUSE THE SILENCE IS COMING.
- The people drilling up are the LEPrecon* elves XD. They also come up from below ground using thermal currents shooting up shafts.
- A slingshot! What the else is in those pockets! I really love how they're using the whole pockets-bigger-on-the-inside thing for 11. It gives him something that really distinguishes him from past doctors, since he's so consistant about it.
- Nice closed environment, all the characters are part of a very small closed social group. This is what RTD failed at doing. He kept want things to engulf the whole Earth, so everyone knew about aliens. Keeping things isolated is really the way to go. Save invasions for other planets a super far-off futures.
- When the Doctor pops up and excitedly says "Me!" and smiles, my face looked like this: XD
- Notes read: "Doctor loves his new boy lad companion" too bad he didn't keep tabs on him. He's not used to babysitting his companions since they're all older and can handle themselves.
- Notes read: "This kid is gone and he's going to come back and save the day with reading"
- Notes read: "The doctor feels horrible, all his kids get hurt, bad dad" It's really heartbreaking if you think about it; The Doctor is a father and nobody realizes he is.
- The doctor proceeds to make a full circle counter-clockwise around the TARDIS control panel to get one foot to the left of where he was originally standing.
- Yay for bringing the TARDIS underground (get-a-way car).
- This was set up so well, that I expect major payoff in part two. And just I just loved the way the episode was structured, and the way they divided everyone up into different groups because it's exactly like the show has always been written. Seriously though, so similar to way the show was written even way back in the 60s.
- Notes read: "Kate's mom is being so chill." Okay, explanation: The drill-woman and the drill-man who has a thing for drill-woman look eerily similar to my friend's parents. And yes this friend was watching the episode with me, so she was freaking out the whole time and wondering why her mom didn't take her on the TARDIS. I told her to wait 10 years. But yes, drill-woman is so chill.
- OMG UNDGEROUND CITY LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE UNDGEROUND FAIRY WORLD IN ARTEMIS FOWL. A secret race, with shrinking numbers, forgotten by man, but with more advanced technology. They even use the same means of transport to get to the surface. jdghsdogdfiobhdio Please, if any of you have read this far, please say you've read Artemis Fowl.
PS It should be noted that I've never really rewatched an episode of Doctor Who. I rewatched parts of episodes when my roommates were first getting through the series, but I'm not a rewatcher, mainly because I have too lengthy a list books/shows/movies that I can't waste any time replaying. However, I suspect that the Series 5 episodes are more enjoyed on the second pass. I had to rewatch a bit of Amy's choice to make sense of some of my notes, and I could help but get that urge to rewatch; it's no secret that haven't been enjoying myself this season, so of course I'd be tempted towards any direction that would make me like these episodes more.
*Read Artemis Fowl if you haven't.
